Women's Ice Hockey Tournament at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Recommended Posts

At the end quite easy and confortbale win for the Czechs. Well done girls  but will have to do something with the power-plays, today it was not exactly good in this special play

I wonder how :USA will react later today against :FIN

As now we come across the world
To share these Games of old
Let all the flags of every land
In brotherhood unfold

Canada trashed Switzerland 12-1, not sure how and why this happened, considering just a few months ago the scores were much closer and Canada hasn't played in weeks. Not sure if this means Canada is here and they mean business or something with awry with the Swiss

It's ridiculous and shameful for the sport that this kind of a result is possible when supposedly two of the Top5 teams are playing. IOC shouldn't have expanded the tournament to 10 teams, there is no sign of improvement, and I say this as someone whose country would benefit from another increase because Hungary would likely be here in a 12 teams tournament. Even women's water polo is doing much, much better.

haha the CZech comentator has no idea the Chinese just changed the names of their north-american players. He keep saying that China for some reason do not field all north-americans meanwhile they had them last night still in the roster but now they had to field only chinese girls  Oh Záruba so few you know :p

Yeah, I was schocked, too what the hell he was saying ....... But all the girls changed their names to make them sound "more chinese" .... Not like some men's roster when their new name is literally the transcription into Chinese language.

Rogge threatened to have the women's ice hockey removed after the Vancouver fiasco, for what it's worth, but statements like that will never again come from the IOC president even if justified.

Will :JPN beat :SWE for the second time in a row at the Olympics..?

It is for a reason why Sweden is in Division I A, unbelievable how their woman hockey program has dropped

    • There will be specialized double sculls...just not for an NOC if it is entering singles specialists.   Either enter 2 singles specialists, or 1 XD specialist pair.   But they can in theory compete in both events, I guess, if they qualify...our top M, I think, does both.   But there are 17M, 17W, and 30 Pairs allotted in the quota, so I don't think the intent is that every singles entry will be in doubles.   (Perhaps this gets to fall in line with Weightlifting, where due to max entry quota, an NOC can't enter in every event, even if they have the best athletes...here, unless you have a pair who qualifies in both.)
