I genuinely like every winter Olympic sports, but, one easy answer: short track speed skating.

The short track relays are already my favourite Winter Olympic events, but on top of that I’m going to be seeing two short track sessions (including my very first Olympic final, the women’s 3000m relay), and there is a very real chance that Courtney Sarault will become the second ever athlete from my home province of :NBR to win an Olympic gold (and she has a chance to win the first ever individual gold), and if Canada wins the women’s relay (and she skates) Rikki Doak would be the first ever athlete from my hometown of Fredericton to win an Olympic gold medal (Marianne Limpert should have won a gold in 1996 but sadly a cheater "won" instead).

I'm waiting to become interested in a random sport I've never watched before, just like it happened with skateboarding in Paris.

Have you seen ski mountaineering?  It's actually pretty good!

My favorites are: Curling, Speed Skating, Short Track, and Ski Jumping.

But of course, my favorite sport is also the one that has Brazilians participating, and we'll probably have the best Winter Games coverage in history. I'm excited. :cheer:

Hockey and short track speed skating 100% also will be attending the opening ceremony. Debating a ticket to speed skating.

Will watch everything except nordic combined and probably figure skating.

The Winter games to me are way more exciting than the summer games. Looking forward to it!!

Not yet, but I'm definitely tuning in. We might have some medal contenders.

I hope the TV coverage will be better than that at the Youth Olympics

    • A few years ago, losing to Argentina might have been acceptable because you had a better squad. Not this time, but I guess I shouldn't expect anything different after those friendlies against Sweden either.    It was the ideal opportunity for us to dominate this sport on the continent for a few years, until Argentina once again had the best squad, considering that your work with young players is better.
    • Yes, 15 athletes in final selection:  6 women and 9 men.
    • Due to countries registering skaters for distances they aren't going to skate, but that give them a reserve spot. Like registering a sprinter for the mass start, and then later exchanging them for a distance rider - but because the sprinter is there anyway, they can then do the 500m where they originally didn't have a quota spot for.   Something like that, there's a story about him being - in his words - fucked due to countries circumventing the rules like that. Tragic story.
    • So it looks like Norway only nominated 15 athletes in alpine skiing even though they accepted 16 quotas
    • It's out   2764-OWG-2026-Final-Allocation-Quota-Places-Speed-Skating---Short-Track-1769423830-695.pdf    Canada lost a quota in the men's 1000m  China lost a quota in the men's 1500m Denmark lost their 2nd men's quota and their women's quota (as was expected)  Norway lost a quota in the men's 500m  Korea lost a quota in the women's 500m We've lost  Portugal    So overall, it looks like the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and Mass Start events all had to be cut down by 1 or 2 quotas to get the quota number to 164.
    • 2764-OWG-2026-Final-Allocation-Quota-Places-Speed-Skating---Short-Track-1769423830-695.pdf   Finally we have the final quotas!   Changes from the initial allocation:  Australia declined their female quota  Great Britain declined 1 male and 1 female quota  Croatia gained a spot in the women's 1500m  Hong Kong gained a quota in the women's 1500m  Poland gained a quota in the women's 1500m   Based on the SOQC rankings, It looks like  France will get an extra spot in the women's 500m and  Poland will get an extra spot in the women's 1000m.
    • NORWAY final selection today: 80 athletes, 51 men and 29 women. NORs smallest Winter-OG team since 2006. No hockey team, and IOC reducing quotas in NORs strongest sports.   Should still bring home most gold medals from the Games.   Alpine: Madeleine Sylvester-Davik Mina Benedikte Fürst Holtmann Kajsa Vickhoff Lie Marte Monsen Thea Louise Stjernesund Bianca Bakke-Westhoff Timon Ludvig Haugan Aleksander Aamodt Kilde Henrik Kristoffersen Hans Grahl-Madsen Fana IL Atle Lie McGrath Fredrik Møller Oscar Andreas Sandvik Adrian Smiseth Sejersted Eirik Hystad Solberg   Curling: Gaute Nepstad Wilhelm Næss Bendik Ramsfjell Magnus Ramsfjell Martin Sesaker Curling (mixed): Magnus Nedregotten Kristin Moen Skaslien   Ski jumping: Eirin Maria Kvandal Silje Opseth Anna Odine Strøm Heidi Dyhre Traaserud Marius Lindvik Johann André Forfang Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal Speed skating: Sigurd Holbø Dyrset Henrik Fagerli Rukke Julie Nistad Samsonsen Aurora Grinden Løvås Ragne Wiklund Sander Eitrem Sigurd Henriksen Peder Kongshaug Bjørn Magnussen Didrik Eng Strand Freeski: Sandra Eie Tormod Frostad Birk Ruud Ulrik Samnøy Sebastian Schjerve Nordic Combined: Einar Lurås Oftebro Jens Lurås Oftebro Andreas Skoglund Cross country skiing: Harald Østberg Amundsen Einar Hedegart Emil Iversen Johannes Høsflot Klæbo Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget Mattis Stenshagen Erik Valnes Oskar Opstad Vike Ingrid Bergene Aabrekk Milla Grosberghaugen Andreassen Julie Bjervig Drivenes Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs Karoline Simpson-Larsen Kristine Stavås Skistad Astrid Øyre Slind Heidi Weng Ski-Mo: Ida Waldal Hans-Inge Klette Trym Dalset Lødøen Snowboard: Marcus Kleveland Mons Røisland Øyvind Kirkhus Biathlon: Juni Arnekleiv Marthe Kråkstad Johansen Maren Hjelmeset Kirkeeide Karoline Offigstad Knotten Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold Johan-Olav Smørdal Botn Vetle Sjåstad Christiansen Johannes Dale-Skjevdal Isak Leknes Frey Sturla Holm Lægreid Martin Uldal
