Speed Skating at the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026

Recommended Posts

What. A. Race.

I predicted Francesca Lollobrigida would finish 7th because she "wasn't in shape." Well, she just proved me - and the rest of the world - completely wrong. On her 35th birthday, on home ice, she didn't just win, she destroyed the field with a 3:54.28! That is the stuff legends are made of!

No Dutch medal? Damn!

Gold in the previous three Olympics and now nothing :yikes:

Don't get me wrong, as a fan of the sport I'd say this is excellent for the sport, but for the Dutch 4th, 8th and 9th is beyond disappointing, wow.

3/5 last bronze medals in this event have gone to Canada, with 3 different skaters.

Luckily it wasn't usual 4th place

First gold for Italy already on day 1  Canada on the board as well :yes, while Holland is left without medal, which is probably the biggest shock of the day.

So happy for Lollobrigida, she really deserves an Olympic gold medal on her resume.

Very happy Maltais gets her first career individual Olympic medal as well, she's had a great career too. About as good a result as you could hope from her here.

Yes, she’s the great-granddaughter of Gina Lollobrigida.

Our commentator mentioned that they actually never met while her great-aunt was still alive, which I find very questionable :mumble:
