Douglas’ leg was the difference from last year.  And Walsh and Huske had the two fastest reaction times of anyone else in the field — .10 and .05.  A little too close for my comfort when you’re 3 seconds ahead, but it worked.

 

Correction - Anna Elendt had a .08 and Hirai for Japan had a .00.  Still though, faster reaction times for Walsh and Huske from last year.

 

And still, why can Smith beat McKewon only on relays?

Great WCH from a competitive standpoint, as 15 nations won gold medals and USA ended with less than 10. Anytime the US finish with sub 10 and not their usual 15-20 gold dominance is good for the sport.

 

China seems to be below expectations with only 2 golds, while Hungary continues it's trend of having their best days behind them. Things are going very bad for them, especially if Milak doesn't return the same guy.

 

From my view, I'm the most happy with Steenbergen and Popovici's wins. The final ascension of Maxime Grousset as a top name was also fun and something to look at in the next few years. Other than that it was the expected outcome for the stars. Marchand, McIntosh, Walsh, Ledecky came and won without trouble.

A bronze in the 4x200m freestyle relay in which she only participated in the heats. In individual events, she got three 4ths.
