Football Discussion | Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Los Angeles 2028 Road to LA 2028

Crystal Palace :champion: won the FA CUP

Eberechi Eze’s first-half goal was enough to beat Manchester City 1-0, thanks also at goalkeeper Dean Henderson saving an Omar Marmoush penalty in the first half and making a couple of saves.

This is the first ever major trophy win (in 120 years) and qualification for the UEFA  Europa League for the first time.

Some nice news for :IND. Our women's football team made it to AFC Asian Cup on merit for the first time ever after qualifiers started two decades ago while also the getting a chance for WC and Olympic Qualification. We did this beating 47 ranked :THA in their hometown.

It's a very strong Team 7/11 players come from the strong sporting state of Manipur which has a population of just 3 million but has given multiple female world champions and Olympic medallists.

Also :BAN ranked 133 didn't have to sweat too much to qualify for their first Asian Cup.

Nice news from India.

Even though I would like to see them qualifing, it's still incredibly hard to qualify. Qualifing system was always harsh. Not many chances. I think that in case of Europe there was only one chance to qualify.

Big friendly match in Edinburgh this evening - Hibernian v Rot Weiss Essen, marking the 70th anniversary of the first ever European Cup in 1955, when Hibs won 5-1 on aggregate. Plenty of :GER fans enjoying a sunny day in Edinburgh just now.

Bad news for fans of Team :GRL - neither UEFA nor CONCACAF are willing to accept them as members.  For those new to the domestic league, looks like they use the :FRO system where teams are known after map references rather than towns.

I imagine neither federation wanted to figure out the logistics of travelling and playing in Greenland.

It would be like if Canada hosted its matches in Iqaluit
