Curling WC Mixed Doubles World Championship 2025

Recommended Posts

It seems like that 6 countries are almost (>99% fixed) for qualification for next year's olympic.

1~3th in Group A ( :ITA, :CAN, :SCO( :GBR) ) is 100% qualified

1~3th in last year WCh are 99% qualified, as they could also be at least 15th in their group stage ( :EST , :SWE , and :NOR) and their total qualification point would be at least 27points or more maybe.

2 last countries would be :SUI & :USA

And, :JPN would looking for the last chance as they will meet Swiss and USA today. 2 consecutive wins are needed for Japan to go PO and achieve olympic direct qualification..but little chance maybe. It seems like that :KOR would be about 10th in qualification point, which could make them only a candidate for OQE.

:CAN and :GBR are not 100% qualified yet; if :AUS finishes first overall, :USA second overall, :JPN third overall, :SUI 4th in their group, :NOR 5th in group and :EST 6th in group, then it is possible for one of them to be out. So better than 99%, but not 100%

Stefania is doing anything she can to break the winning streak right now against the :NED in a match that doesn't count anything anymore

but her partner (and the same Dutch players) seem to not agree with her

I was pretty sure Hasselborg/Eriksson would be the Swedish olympic team automatically After they won the Swedish trial against all other potential teams, to make it to the worlds and also with the experience as former World mixed doubles champions but it Will not be that easy now to select them over Wranå/Wranå who won the world championship last year.

:EST qualifies in curling for the first time ever

And now they've beaten Canada! Congratulations to Estonia!

On the flip side, Shame Canada. For shame...

In the other semifinal, :SCO beat :USA, meaning that :SUI had qualified for the Olympics.

:AUS qualifies for the Olympics with any medal, otherwise :USA qualifies.

Edit: there appears to be a fifth place game, in which case if :USA wins it and :AUS loses the semi-finals I believe :USA qualifies for the Olympics. But I'm not trusting my math this morning because I'm tired xD

    • I can finally piggyback off @vinipereira predictions to deliver my own    I'll be honest. I was rather busy during most of the awards season, so I wasn't able to see as much as I wanted to, or normally would have been able to. Therefore, I'm relying heavily on pundit predictions and general feel this time around.     If there was a category for best poster artwork, my nominees would be: Bugonia, Eddington, Dracula, The Sound of Falling, Sirāt   I'd give best animal acting to Pipa from Sirāt   And my favorite scenes from the year are... Kids getting bewitched, Weapons Gladys getting her just desserts, Weapons Car chase, One Battle After Another I Lied To You, Sinners Turn that shit up, Sirāt Playing with arrows, The Love That Remains Street dance, The Life of Chuck Cold open, Warfare Final scene, The Plague Ship prayer, The Testament of Ann Lee

    • Btw I highly recommend the short film 'Butterfly' which has a story related to the Olympics.
    • Once again here I am with my annual Oscar predictions post. Last year I predicted 13/23 winners which was my worst results ever by far. For the second consecutive year Brazil is nominated so I'm hoping that 'The Secret Agent' wins something, especially because it's a film from my home state. I watched 34 out of the 35 feature films (only 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' missing) and all 15 short films nominated, so I leave a personal ranking of all the categories.   ["will win" is my prediction / "could win", my alternate prediction / "should win", my personal ranking / "shoud have been nominated", a way to remember other notable work].
    • I don't know how soon that'll be though... and until then not holding my breath. Really wanted to see Caissie crushing balls at the Olympics, he deserved it for his play this tournament, and now he might not get the opportunity to. He's still young, but this will probably be Canada's best chance, and he'll only be around for Brisbane 2032 at best considering the bids in contention for 2036.    It just sucks, constant disappointment for the Canadians this year with barely anything to cheer for, and coming so close only to come up short... I'd rather us have just lost in the group stage
    • I think instead of allocating 2 spots here (for Americas) WBSC should have allowed 3 spots (rather than 2) in the 2027 WBSC premiere. ( 1 each for Asia, Europe & Americas)   That way it would have ensured two things : ONLY the top team from Americas gets the quota here ( deservedly so) additionally it would have allowed teams from Americas a second shot at qualification from the 2027 premieres.    Getting only 1 tournament , more than 2 years ahead of olympics is very harsh on the teams from Americas.
