Doping Cases and Bans in 2024

Recommended Posts

Borowska tested positive, out of OG though probably still fighting with B probe. It is unclear with Kobielski in high jump.

I fell in love with sports.....since i first seen it

Out of competition, has he learned nothing? You need to either disconnect/remove your doorbell, give a totally random address and accept the one strike for a missed test or have a panic room ready when you're glowing, come on.

Mohamed Ehab :EGY (Bronze medalist Rio 2016 in Weightlifting 77 kg) .. his sample returned positive with Dianabol prohibited substance ... he claims this is not possible as this substance is remaining in body for 6 months and all his samples within 6 Months of Rio are negative ..(Mohamed was aiming to upgrade his medal to Silver after Nijat Rahimov the gold medalist disqualified earlier)

Not exactly ..it's a sample taken out of competition 4 days before the game .. very close to Rio's sample which still clear!

I presume there should be a re-analysis for Rio sample too.

An update about our :POL C1, Dorota Borowska:

Allegedly the drug she was tested positive for (clostebol) came from a.... dog ointment she got prescripted in Italy (wtf?!) for her injured dog. While she treated the dog the substance got into her body. Now she is going to go (with her dog of course - no shit :D) to a laboratory in Strasbourg in order to verify this version.

Btw., that would be a very strange case. As much as I wish her to be allowed to compete, I wonder how would that influence

a) her performance - if at all? could such amounts of any substance cause substanial differences in an athlete's performance?

b) any other athletes, if a) was answered positively? Would they all of a sudden become dog fans and take care of their pets with some drugs that they would otherwise not use?

I can see where she is going. The mark DOPING is clearly visible on creams or similar for human use so it's hard to claim you weren't aware of it. But probably for dog's medicines this is not the case (and surely she'll find the one tube in which the list of ingredients is written in very small characters, and has a bad eyesight without glasses).

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.
