Obviously I hope Iga wins this one . She has never won AO before so it’s about time . I would cherish this one much more than US open for sure because she has already won in NY

waiting for draws to be announced…

It is very interesting for me how Hubert Hurkacz plays and I am focused on some new young players like Mirra Andreeva or Arthur Fils…

I also hope Woźniacki and Kerber will play some good tennis even if they lose in the 1st rd

Opening day of qualifying has been rained out entirely, not a single match was played today. "But the centre court, with a roof?!"....yeah....no, because the 'big shots' had to train there, and so actual competition was put aside in favour of privileged trainings..

At least there is still plenty of time to complete qualifying though. Forecast also looks great. Should not be an issue in the end.

Btw , I wonder if Andreeva sisters will change their flag as well like some other Russian athletes? We will see

Given how Mirra Andreeva liked the infamous IG post with birthday wishes to Putin I would say that's unlikely to happen.

I think Diana Shnaider, the other Russian teen in the top 100, also has liked several Instagram posts supporting the invasion.

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
