I understand the use for them, but people ride them way too fast and reckless in areas with a high density of pedestrians. Same here but with electric bikes, which on one hand is a great way for especially older people and otherwise physically less strong people*, but many of those same old people use them to race around at 20-25 kilometers per hour, which is a speed nobody expects a regular 85-year old to get to on a bike...resulting in a lot of accidents. Plus often they have some balance issues by then, so they're not always going in a decently straight line. *also more and more children are using them to get to school, even if they only live 5-10km away or so.
