Also yesterday before the KHL match between Jokerit Helsinki and Dinamo Minsk, the host announcer played :PLW anthem instead of :BLR

This was probably done on purpose since I refuse to believe people can be that stupid. Since European politicians are unwilling to do anything about Lukashenka for 27 years already we have to live with these kind of "mistakes"?

Of course it was done on purpose, it's not like anyone will coincidentally have the anthem of Palau under their Ctrl + V :d

You'd be surprised since Palau used to be known as Belau... which ofc is similar in spelling to Belarus.

The DJ in question said the Belarussian anthem was under BLR anyway. Good thing they didn't mix up the Finnish anthem? It's such a nonsense it makes you wonder how these people think others are so stupid to buy this crap? You have an internantional match between two teams and you always play the anthems before. Rushing to play the anthem? Obviously it was done on purpose to annoy Lukashenka's countrymen. It's laughable to hear these excuses. Meanwhile the dictator remains in charge for 27 years and the powerful democracies can only sit on their hands since it's not worth to fight for democracy in Belarus. Russia would only raise the gas prices in response (which is happenning right now anyway) and everyone is fucked (except Germany thanks to Nord Stream 2).

Now this is what I call bad luck.  :jawdrop:

This is the moment a runaway buffalo smashed its way into a restaurant and threw a man into the air in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Taizhou in Jiangsu Province on December 31, shows the animal charging into the restaurant, ramming into a man and knocking him over.

The stricken man, who suffered injuries to his leg, was dragged to safety by his friend while the bull rampaged around the restaurant, overturning tables and chairs before eventually running away.

  • 2 weeks later...

First results of the Croatian 2021 population census have arrived today. We have 3.88 mil inhabitants.

That's nearly 10% drop compared to 2011. No wonder we are sinking like a stone in most sports...  :p

    • The Stoevi sisters are just amazing. It's a shame their accomplishments will always be in the shadows here, just because they are in a sport without much coverage, tradition, interest.    This is their 7th European title (5 ECH + 2 European Games) which is just one shy of Carolina Marin's all time record of 8th titles in a specific event. Plus it was their 6th consecutive final with only one loss in 2024 in this streak.
    • I know that the PP was definitely pro-European and anti-Russian- they had a prime minister at the very beginning of the war in 2022. Unfortunately, GERB was always corrupt, although it remained in the EPP on EU Parlament all- time. The PP was probably the best option, but unfortunately, they seem to have lost a lot of public support recently.
    • Italy- Slovakia 6-4   An unnecessary black out at the some end, but we achieved our minimum goal – a secure stay at this division after 2 matches. After a 1-day break, we will play against France and Hungary for promotion. I still think Hungary are the favorites, but we can compete with them.
    • GERB actually aren't pro-Russian. They have always been pro-EU and Europe oriented and joining Shengen and the Eurozone happened in part because of them, though with a huge delay. They however have very well used the pro-EU stance to hide the rampant stealing of public funds and corruption surrounding their 10+ year ruling, which is the main reason people protested against them so many times. A bit Orban-esq they have also pretty much filled all institutions with their people, so it's hard to clean their mess.   Radev on the other hand has always been a pro-Russian proxy, though unlike Orban he is much more calculated with his words and actions. He is taking the "diplomatic" and "national" approach, though if you listen to his comments they are clearly favouring Russia.    Even though this guy was President for many years, that position is without much power here, so he hasn't had the chance to do much trouble. But he did manage to plant his seeds in many people's heads, as he always blamed whichever party was ruling for all the troubles in the country and many believe he is our new "saviour".    Compared to Hungary, the situation here is much more complex, as there isn't anyone as popular are Magyar and there are several strong parties, which always get practically the same number of votes.   Radev is surely winning, though the hopes are for the sane people to do damage control. But the truth is there aren't any many good choices, so it's going to be a lose-lose situation.    I don't expect a coalition to be formed, but it will depend on the number of parties passing the 4% threshold. So yeah, we are once again hitting the never-ending elections cycle, which the country has spun into since 2021.
