Out of curiousity: would a 1% positivity rate not undermine the willingness of people to accept stricter precautions if those are necessary? Because people would think "only 1% tested positive anyway"?

Yeah, good question.

This is in fact more or less the expected result. The experts expected something under 3 % from this weekend, (which is, taking in account, also the false negative ratio of the antigen tests used here), is what in fact the result is.

Also, again majority of slovaks are aware the 1% is 30k. and for your info 30 thousands is in Slovakia one whole medium sized city. so it is still a pretty big number.

so if we count let say + 2% of false negatives people are still walking in the streets, now we have around cca 50-60 thousand people who can still infect you, so yes people in vast majority realize we did not win the war yet, the masks are still mandatory everywhere in the country and the mild lockdown is still on, even if the curfew does not apply now for people with the negative tests.

Today I saw all people in streets and shops respecting the measures without problems, even more strictly than it was in april I would say, and we are speaking only about people who were tested negative this weekend.

You may feel that slovaks in general really want to finally defeat corona and erase it definitely from our lives

1-3% of the population who are currently infectious seems quite high actually. It's not like 1-3% who had the virus at some point, it's people who have it now and who currently can infect you. That's a lot of people :d

I can't with this shit. Saturday night Lithuania is going under its second lockdown. Funerals under 10, Gatherings under 5 (slightly easier), no events, restaurants/cafes closed and can only offer take-out, everything regarding entertainment is closed too, work and education mostly from home, masks everywhere except your own home and stuff like dentist appointments if you're lucky to get one.

What a fucking awesome year. There's two months left till 2021 and I've only had the opportunity to work during 4/10 that already happened. Planned to save up for an album, got depleted savings instead.

From Saturday we will return to mini full lockdown. If cases will still rise in next 2 weeks we will have more strict full lockdown even than it was in spring....

Already from Saturday all cinemas, museums, theaters, shopping centers and so on will be closed. Only essential shops, pharmacies, drugstores, DIY stores, hairdresser, beauty salon and churches will remain open.

Today we had confirmed almost 25k cases and 374 deaths, of course it's all records...

We reached such situation that almost everywhere in whole country is lack of ambulances and free places in hospitals for people with other healthy problems.

Some pretty damn worrying news here in Denmark as the Danish mink population has been the epicenter of a mutation that seems to be more resistant to antibodies. At least 12 people has tested positive to this new version called cluster 5

I heard the government wants to cull the entire mink population. Is that the plan?
