Poles do not count. We already know that they are genetically superior and are all vaccinated against measles, which is proven to be 100% effective in preventing a Covid infection.

It's cool. I'm well aware the rich Western Europe countries don't care about Poland. What else is new?

.5000+ cases in the day. Disastrous day as most states broke their previous records for the highest number of cases...

However for the time being it's a break from corona virus. The focus now shifts pretty much on Super Cyclone Amphan which is poised to hit tomorrow. It's so severe that it's effects are already being seen, strong winds and thunder yesterday. Disaster Management Teams have been deployed.

and now the most important...

From Wednesday 20th May and Thursday 21st May  :SVK will enter into the 4th Phase of Lifting measures

Masks will not be compulsory in public, Elementary schools and Kindergartens open from 1st June, Sport events (behind closed doors) allowed since 3rd June, Slovak Football League may restart from 6th June

Quote

No masks worn outdoors, more relaxed regime on state borders and reopened kindergartens and schools. Slovakia is preparing to enter the fourth stage of moderating restrictions adopted to slow down the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

The reason is a very good epidemiologic situation and the fact that recent new coronavirus cases have been identified either in state quarantine or in identified epidemic centres, like Roma settlements.

“We know promises should be fulfilled,” PM Igor Matovič (OĽaNO) said on May 18.

While most measures will come into force on May 20 or May 21, schools and kindergartens will open only two weeks later, on June 1.

Changes after May 20

Changes to the 2nd and 3rd phase:

  • Tattoo and piercing salons to open on May 20.
  • Indoor tourist attractions will open on May 20, except for zoos and botanical gardens.
  • In shops and service operations, the limit for customers will change from 25 square metres to 15 square metres per customer.
  •

Measures within the 4th phase:

  • Cinemas, theatres and other mass events will be allowed. The number of participants cannot exceed 100 people.
  • Shopping centres can open, apart from playgrounds. The operators of shops within the shopping centres will have to maintain certain restrictions, like offering hand disinfection, restricting the number of customers to one customer per 15 square metres and keeping a 2-metre distance between customers. There will be a ban on people gathering in common spaces.
  • Indoor swimming pools and sports venues will open for sports teams only.
  • Outdoor sports venues will now be open for contact sports and people will be allowed to visit the toilet. There is still a ban on using changing rooms and having spectators there.
  • Restaurants with indoor seating will be open. They will have to observe the same limits as for outdoor seating, like keeping a 2-metre distance between the table corners and disinfection of surfaces after guests leave, and limiting the number of people at one table to 2 people or one family with children. The rules for airing should be specified later.
  • Meetings set by law, like parliamentary sessions, party congresses and shareholders’ meetings, will be allowed without any restrictions to the number of participants.
  • People will not be required to wear masks outdoors if the distance between people not living in the same household is at least 5 metres.
  • People with permanent or temporary residence in Slovakia travelling to the Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary, Austria, Croatia, Slovenia, Switzerland and Germany who return within 24 hours will not be required to take the coronavirus test and undergo mandatory quarantine after May 21.
  • The requirement to close shops on Sundays and selected hours for seniors remain in place.

The Public Health Authority (ÚVZ) will work on more detailed conditions in the next two days.

Kindergartens and schools open

Before schools open, school authorities will carry out a survey among parents about the interest in placing children in school or kindergarten.

  • Kindergartens for all children, primary schools for first to fifth graders and children’s clubs open on June 1.
  • The limit for the number of children per one group in kindergartens is 15, in primary schools it is 20. The groups should not change within one week, and there should be the same teacher for them.
  • Children will not be required to wear masks in the groups. In primary schools, pupils are required to wear masks outside the groups. Teachers should wear masks or transparent face coverings.
  • Schools and kindergartens are open to all children, but they are recommended to place primarily the children of medical workers, paramedics, police officers, firefighters, armed forces members, teachers, and pre-school children. The school authorities can set other criteria, like taking in children from disadvantaged communities. At the same time, children from families in quarantine will not be allowed to attend kindergartens or schools.
  • Parents can decide to keep pupils from first to fifth grade at home. Remote education, plus pupils from sixth to ninth grade, should be ensured within the personnel and technical capacities of schools.
  • Children should be brought and taken only by people living in the same households.
  • Schools and kindergartens should prevent gathering in front and inside the buildings. They should also set individual times for parents to bring their children and measure their body temperature before entering the building.
  • Primary schools will be allowed to adjust the content and form of education.
  • The operation of kindergartens and schools should not be longer than nine hours a day.

The Education Ministry is currently discussing with the Administration of State Material Reserves on how to secure disinfection.

Restrictions in health care change

  • The 14-day quarantine before planned surgeries has been cancelled.
  • Only patients from risky groups will be tested for the coronavirus before surgery.
  • Pre-surgery check-ups will be carried out again by general practitioners and internists.

Health Minister Marek Krajčí (OĽaNO) could not say when the national emergency in health care will be cancelled.

  • Latest Posts around Totallympics

    • Italy will boycott the Azeri stage for protest against the international federation.
    • Likely for Tannheimer, quite unlikely for Galmace Paulin. She's far from being assured to even start in the WC before turning 20. Basically she'd have to get a spot this season, which could actually happen if she takes the extra-ticket at the JWCH. Anyway I don't see her making her way to gold in Oslo. Tänglander has a few seasons to do it, we'll see.       Quite surprisingly so, indeed. Barring her horrendous finish Richard would have made it 2 in one go. We should have some more names in the list in 2025.
    • There are some of Slovakia's finest young squads at the World Juniors in recent years
    • Alpine skiing also we have a lot of problems: the men's team is very weak and has been winning a few podiums a season for several years and the our best skier- Dominik Paris is 35. We still have a strong women's team but 3 of the 4 leaders are over 30 (Goggia, Brignone, Curtoni) and Bassino is 28. Another 2 years and we will have the same problem as the men's. There is basically no cross-country skiing without Pellegrino for many years, biathlon is based on 2 individuals with one of them has a 35 years. Vittozzi's injury was enough and we haven`t a single podium this season after 3 stages of the World Cup. As for 1 year to the home games the situation isn`t optimistic.
    • Hail to the Reds... Commanders. First time since 1991 Washington QB has thrown 5 TD passes in a game (which isn't all that improbable in the modern game alas Dan Snyder...)
    • Italy is much better in alpine skiing, in The end all Nations have a Limited Talent Pool. Norway is far better than Sweden/Finland in Cross-Country skiing, alpine skiing and Biathlon, but Sweden/Finland are far better in ice Hockey.  Great Britain wins far more medals than Germany At Summer olympics, but GB is also inexistant in Winter Sports and Most popular Team Sports (Volleyball, Handball, Basketball, Ich Hockey).
    • Thanks, great stat! Tannheimer wont turn 20 until August 2025, so she has The whole Season To Join Kristiansen and Neuner. Too Bad that she was ill this week. I think Galmace Paulin and Tänglander could also do it. I think Grotian (born 2004) is The First female Biathlete born after 1999 To make a World Cup Podium. On The Mens side multiple Athletes (Perrot, Giacomel, Uldal) have already done it.   E. Öberg was 22 and a half when she First won.  Dahlmeier was 21 and a half.   Edit: Grotian only narrowly missed The Podium in The Individual at The 2024 World Championships when she was still  19 year old.
