for the joy of the home audience, the men's fight for the overall title seems to be an all-Hungarian (actually, an all-Liu family) affair...

De Laat doesn't seem to have the right weapons against the Hungarian brothers, especially on the mid/longer distances and Elistratov doesn't look in his best shape...I don't think he can turn things around in tomorrow's races...

meanwhile the women's Overall is only Schulting to lose...both the Italian main contenders, in fact, did some capital mistakes in 1 of today's 2 races and were beaten by the Dutch also in the other one...moreover, Valcepina won't be in the 1000m quarterfinals, which means that she mathematically doesn't have any chance to improve her score in that distance...

only Fontana could try what would be an amazing comeback, but the chances are really slim, as Schulting now only need to control the Italian star in tomorrow's races to take the title home...

good for Italy that we also did qualify both Relays to the "A" Final, even if I don't see the men going on the podium...

the expectations are instead a lot higher among the girls, as ITA and NED should be well ahead of their continental rivals, if they don't make big mistakes...

Is there really no better way in shorttrack to show the classification leader than those red caps? I mean, you're there with some awesome custom helmet design...but if you're doing great, you have to ride around with a lame piece of red cloth covering it

Thank God Shaoang Liu isn't Dutch. Those 'Hungarian' Liu-brothers are way too arrogant. By the way: why does Hungary buy half of their relayteams? Both Krueger-brothers are American and Lockett is Australian. Seems like shorttrack is the new Athletics and Table Tennis.

Krueger’s moves after a spat with the US team, and by sheer luck, they have Hungarian roots.

    • Atalanta is probably playing the most beautiful football in Europe right now: spectacular and effective. It's nice to watch and they don't have to spend a lot of money for it.   Inter is playing very economically. It's not impressive but it's consistently collecting points. It's also the only team in the Champions League that hasn't conceded a goal this season.   Milan played very poorly yesterday but they won. They have 9 points and are close to qualifying for the play-offs.

    • Unfortunate, but it doesn't change the fact that I'm looking forward to Thursday evening, when the team captain's meeting is over and we have our very first World Cup start list of the season. Always a cool moment to see who's there and everything
    • Today I unpacked some of the boxes in which we have put my way too many books to move to our house, and I came across these beauty's I hadn't seen for a while     Absolutely recommended, tough to get for a decent price, but they are such an interesting read with lots of very interesting little stories! Still looking for at least 1900, 1904 and 1906, but not really in the right moment to spend money on that now, so the wait goes on
