We had few early red cards in today's AFC qualifier matches. :PRK PRK managed to get a draw from so-called Asian Champion Qatar despite playing almost the whole match with 10 men! Saudis despite one man down saved themselves by a very late goal and beat China

:IRQ Iraq also played the entire match with 10 players and managed to not lose to Kuwait. I believe they have a good chance to qualify behind South Korea which will qualify anyway

Japan destroyed Bahrain too, 12 goals in 2 matches :yikes: they are clearly a head and shoulder above everybody else. the rest have to fight for the 2nd spot in that group. Australia is in big trouble now with 1 point after 2 "easy" matches.

as for :IRI Iran, despite playing not-so-good they still found a way to win matches 1-0. this reminds  me of 2022 qualification campaign, when the team was playing no good yet managed to win matches mostly 1-0.

:PAR 1-0 :BRA :yikes:

BTW that Bolivia win was their first away win since 1993 and only their 4th away qualifier win in history.

That is awesome :d

Seems like it was a quite fun night for the neutral observer, Colombia beating Argentina, Bolivia beating Chile, Paraguay beating Brazil :d

For me, the Asian surprise is Indonesia, with 2 draws against big teams in Asian qualifications, Saudi Arabia and Australia.

About Iran, I think you'll qualify easy from this group. Qatar looks very weak at the moment, you need a good result in Uzbekistan next month and that's all, I would say.

This brazilian NT is the worst we ever had, the lack of quality and a good manager is insane.

Thanks God there are 6,5 beths, if not we would not qualify tô the next WC.

Indonesia did great so far, but if they want to achieve something they also have to beat weaker teams (Bahrain, China) which is probably even a tougher task for a team like Indonesia.

about Iran, under the current coach (who is a mafia boss IMO and I hate him more than any other sportspeople in the world) we only played one great match which was against Japan in Asia Cup QF and unfortunately that single win will keep him in this position for a long time

I also think Iran came to this NT window completely unprepared. we were lucky to collect all 6pts. I believe we will do better next window.

  • 2 weeks later...

Is Trump becomes President is he really going to let in the likes of Iran if they qualify. Fifa could protest if he won’t but sort of cancelling it they don’t have much leeway.

    • I think the reason is that it's generally preferable to have a fast shooter in the 1st leg, and especially in the prone shooting, where Hofer is quite slow.   Now, I'm not saying I agree with the choice, because I don't. I think it's going to neutralize Giacomel's skiing skills in the 1st lap at least.   I guess the idea is to try and set a very fast pace in the 1st leg, which is usually quite tactical, but I'm afraid that's going to force Giacomel to risk too much because he will feel he has to make some time somehow.   Regardless, Italy must be on the podium tomorrow. I think that would be crucial for the following races as well. I think France is the clear favorite, but the other teams are not stronger than Italy on paper.
