Woods was ranked #20 in the world (at the start of the race), and was the #1 U23, so pretty surprising to see him not secure the quota/fail to make the podium. A terrible start pretty much put him out of it (He was dead last at one point and still managed to fight back to finish in 11th). Caught among the bikes, and with the track being extremely narrow there wasn't much room for passing early on. By the time the riders were more spread out, the lead group was long gone.
