Meanwhile, Spanish bronze medalist in the women's T12 marathon was disqualified. Her guide got cramps a few meters before the start, she helped him up and with that let go of the tether/piece of rope that they had to hold together, leading to the DQ.

I think that is probably the best that could have happened to her in the long term. If she won the bronze, it would have been one more of the 41 medals.

Now her case has made it to the main page of Spanish press and she gained way more recognition and will keep the same allowance as if she won the medal.

Hi  @Griff88, @JoshMartini007, @mpjmcevoy, @vinipereira, @Vic Liu, @Cinnamon Bun, @hckošice, @rybak, @Josh, @avlar, @heywoodu, @rybak@MHSN@Epic Failure, @phelps, @ChandlerMne @Grassmarket, @De_Gambassi, @Olympian1010, @konig, @Monzanator , @dodge, @PHI2019, @Fer GUA Attached is points table based on Top 6 performance in each event where 1st place gets 10 points, 2nd gets 7 pts, 3rd gets 5, 4th gets 3, 5th gets 2,6th gets 1. To measure nations' performance few terms have been introduced

  • 'Quota' is number of participants per country in each event. Qualified but non-participation is not included in Quota.
  • 'Top 6' is the number of events a country finished in Top 6.
  • Conversion = Top 6 / Quota which implies Contingent quality.
  • 'Normalized Points' = Points / (Number of events in that sport). For example, if a country wins just 1 Gold in Archery, they will get 10 points but 10 points/ 9 events = 1.11 Normalized Points. This metric will be high for countries who earn points in multiple sports.
  • Sport' can be defined as set of events governed by same federation

Salient Observations

1) The nations' rank for points is closely related to rank of total medals won
2) Top spot for :CHN is deserved as they have the highest participation, almost 70% conversion and dominate many sports like Athletics, Swimming and Table Tennis

3) :RUS finished 9th despite limited participation

4) Best ever successful edition for :THA as finished 21st in medal table and accumulated medals and points in Fencing, Table Tennis and Athletics
