Not that I expect to qualify anyway, but group vs England is harsh. At least qualifying will be with Miedema as things stand, so that's... something. But I feel like we have problems with the lesser nations last few years, that doesn't help with this format where only a single team will go through. 4 points vs England is not easy.

Spain also not exactly on easy mode, but vs Sweden is doable (but Italy and Switzerland might be tough anyway, although they can surely interfere with Sweden) and then just one match away from a Q.

I'm glad they moved the European qualifications out of the World Cup. Having non-European nations influencing who qualifies was always going to create issues. Especially with Europe getting so few quotas. Not sure why FIFA felt Africa & South America deserves two guaranteed quotas each, they should have kept the quota split the same as 2020.

Poland got a very manageable group, I'd say Northern Ireland was the most dangerous team from League B Pot 2 and we avoided them. Though Serbia will probably play very physical style etc.

Such circus in the spanish football team. No one still knows if someone will actually play on friday against Sweden in the Nations league premiere, also working as olympic qualification.

England and Scotland is the same group, while Olympic qualification is at stake, is a bit strange.

It is, and I'd rather that not have happened. but better that than the men's situation where Europe's champions (England U21) are completely unrepresented at the games. Hockey made it work. Basketball and Rugby sevens couldn't (the latter rather surprisingly since there's a long tradition of Lions rugby every 4 years with home nations co-ordinating) Football situation is complicated by relatively little known Home nations near control of the rules (though not the governance) of football through IFAB - half of eight seats got to four 'home nations', essentially giving UK a veto on rule changes in soccer. Scotland and Wales loathe to put that at risk by agreeing to be GBR for certain purposes.

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
