Another small team - not sure why they've opted for the men's Eight rather than having entries in the Pair and/or Four

They probably think they have a better chance at qualifying in eights given the number of entries.

But with only 5 quotas available the Eight is probably the most difficult boat class to qualify for - despite the fact that there are so few entrants.

I'd still argue that they are more likely to qualify.

At the very least Austria could make the argument for more funding by finishing in the top 10.

To be fair to the Austrian eight while it did finish 7nth of 7 at World cup iii. It was surprisingly competitive and nearly knocked Canada out in the rep. They could have put out a pair and a four but it is not like they would be likely to qualify in those boats anyway and then your leaving two extra athletes at home. Besides eights are just cool.

Thread title should say “World Rowing,” not “FISA,” right? This isn’t 2003 :p

Or, as it is now, this is apparently the thread for the 'Rowing World Rowing World Championships'

Ah how I love the unnecessary double use of words in titles :p

Too bad UCI isn't called 'World Cycling' yet, so we could have the World Cycling Road Cycling World Championships.

if it's like the last 2 Olympics, it's gonna be 7 boats (in both genders)

5 from the world champs and 2 from the OQ regatta in Lucerne next year
