can be either EE-veen or Ay-veen

The one that always throws me is Siobhain - Shi-VONN...but by standard Irish pronunciation rules, should be Shi-WAHN, surely? ('bh' between broad vowels is W, not V?)

If it’s spelled traditionally - Siobhán

Then the á is elongated

So I’d pronounced that as Shiv-awn

The same way Seán is shawn

I'm thinking more the lenition of the b - with broad vowels should it not be W rather than V?

Expected loss for Morejon, but i didn't expect him to make the final either way. Orie much more active and controlling in the match. Morejon has potential, but he lacks in the thought process. Jumps in recklessly, leaves his defense wide open, was lucky he didn't land on the floor at the end of the match.

Interesting that with the exception of Ireland, all of the big winners of quotas participated in the IBA world championships earlier this year. All the training in the world is no substitute for actual competition experience and I wonder if having that extra tournament helped nations like France, Turkey and Italy get their boxers "battle ready"

Whatever the :GBR tactic was in terms of preparing for these champs, it hasn't worked out as they expected winning just 3 quotas is probably less than half of what they expected. It will be interesting to see if they make any changes in the run up to the world qualifiers next year but looking at how the national federations are trying to spin the performances across the last few days, I doubt they will.
