But Canada looking good for the women's medley relay tomorrow.  Got the gold medalists in the back and fly, bronze medalist in the breast (if they go with Pickrem) and the defending Olympic champion in the free who just had the fastest time in this relay.

Yup.  With respect to our whole team, can't do much with the state of the men's program as it is.

Ruck also had the 6th fastest time on her leg.  Not exactly impressive.  She has not had a great meet.

Sanchez had a faster time in qualifications (by 0.02, but still, Ruck is supposed to be the next star).

Mixed relays are useless gimmick. It's only a reason to give the power house nations more chances to win easy medals :dunno:

I disagree. I think it's important to have more team events in traditionally individual sports because this fosters partnership between athletes in the same nation. They are a team, not rivals, and this makes a huge difference. The more events we have like this, the more they will act, train and compete as a team. Besides, there's nothing wrong with providing more medal chances to the best programs in the world. I wish we had more team events in artistic gymnastics, for example.

They're spending enough time together without the gimmick mixed relays :dunno: Add the NCAA programmes and all that crap and I'm surprised there's not more beef among them. It must be tiresome to hang around the same people time and time again for well over 10 years tbh    Adding team events in individual sports is useless, it's as overrated as Ryder Cup in golf.

Pilato! :yikes::yikes::yikes::bowdown:

our wonder baby seems not to be bothered by any sort of pressure...she improved her PB/NR once again in the heats...

and as expected, Wellbrock and Romanchuk are there, close to super-Greg (who said he's only used this morning's heat as a warm-up...I fear he not only wants to win the gold medal tomorrow, but also try to go for Sun's WR...and I'm not sure that would be a good and safe idea)...

the poor performance over the 800m free by both is already only a bad memory...

Wellbrock is still not at his best, i think Paltrinieri will break the world record and win by at least 10 seconds, Christiansen should win silver. Next year will be a completely different story though.

Nope, but I am genuinely interested in how Horton is going to pick this up (and Lilly King for example), or will they only go all-out against the big bad China and Russia?

It's not like this is the first famous australian swimmer getting caught in the last couple of years. As far as i know Horton didn't say anything about them, but of course those cases are nowhere near as bad as Sun Yang's case.

    • Do you remember this?    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Fed_Cup_World_Group     I don't remember too much Husarova, who at that time played alongside Hantuchová in the singles matches. I more know that persons, like Henrietta Nagyova or Martina Sucha.     Sramkova is 28? Wow. She's Paolini's age. I still have the impression that Sramkova is like crazy 20 :P I don`t know what
    • Goodbye champion! I think I first heard about him during the ATP tournament in Monte Carlo (now ATP 1000 but back then it was called something else) in distant 2003. Time flies really fast, because it's been over 20 years   Return to competition: on paper Italy and the USA are the strongest now, who can play in 1/2 but in principle anyone can beat anyone here, e.g. today the Netherlands vs Spain. In theory, Sinner can guarantees 1 point in every potential singles matches. Now the question is who will be the 2nd racket in Italy and who possibly played doubles: Sinner with Musetti or Bolelli with Vavassori? I remember that Sinner was scheduled to play Musetti in the doubles at the Paris Olympics before his withdrawal.
    • Rafael Nadal (tennis) Officially retired following the conclusion of the Davis Cup, where Spain got eliminated in the quarterfinals.    He’s a 22x Grand Slam Champion (14 at Roland Garros, 5 at the US Open, 2 at the Australian Open, 2 at Wimbledon), “King of Clay”, and an Olympic gold medalist in both singles (2008) and doubles (2016)
    • Spain lost against Netherlands
    • crazy week in Asia, KSA lost to Indonesia, so called Asian Champion Qatar lost 5-0 to UAE and Korea dropped 2pts against Palestine once again. Australia was lucky to escape another defeat vs Bahrain by a late goal.    Japan will most probably secure the qualification spot (as the first team) in March. Iran also has 16pts so far but the performance is far from good. our team still plays terrible  but somehow manages a way to win matches.    Group C is really interesting, behind Japan we have Australia with 7pts and 4 more teams with 6pts!  everything is possible, BRN, INA and CHN they all have a chance to even clinch a direct qualification spot. Bahrain could end this week with 6pts but some crazy things happened in extra time for them and they ended up with just 1 !
    • Using the nations league for playoff qualification is such a bad idea.
    • By this results San Marino is possible to play a qualifiying play-off to 2026 World Cup. If the favorits from pot 1 and 2 will finish 1st and/or 2nd in their qualifiying groups then North Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Moldova and San Marino will play a two rounds of single-match play-offs. So the last team in FIFA ranking could play a world cup qualifying play-off, that's absolutely insane
