Totallympics International Song Contest Discussion

Here is my opinion: One contest per year as two seems to have burned out many people.

People have not been burned out from the contests in my opinion. They just stopped visiting and contributing to the forum in general. :(

One contest per year would be absolutely fine, I'd say, makes it feel more special. On the other hand, the bigger issue is lots of people (from lots of different places) kind of leaving the place. There are lots of days where in the 'Latest forum replies' there's like 2-3 threads that saw action in the past 10+ hours.

I think this has always been the case in the post-Olympic year. Also, the website has changed a bit in these years, we now have national clubs where users discuss with members of their same country, and we are focusing more on Olympic qualifications pages. From the website traffic I can say it is more visited than in the past (and it's not like I am so much interested in the traffic itself because I do not earn money out of it :d ), just probably less focused in some discussion threads.

The TISC and the Prediction Contests were relying on single users taking care of them, once they loose the motivations (which hopefully is just temporary) it's normal that it's not possible to keep running them.

Hopefully @OlympicIRL will find motivations again and I'm sure if this happens the TISC will come back!

Yeah, the national clubs may also be a factor in the 'international forum' being less active, it's like it has been split into smaller forums that don't really interact with one another and just happen to be on the same website :p (also part of the reason I'm not really active in national clubs, basically anything I would have to say, I can say in the regular threads)

I wonder how many countries would participate if we started registration for a TISC now. I'm still in favor of doing a more simplified version, since it takes such an ungodly amount of time to prepare everything in the usual way (it's cool, don't get me wrong, but understandable that it is hard to find someone having the time for it).

I think the hosting burden can be trimmed a lot. As much as people like to have some type of opening and closing ceremonies, with facts about the countries, it's extra, extra work for the organizer. We, as worldwide sporting fans likely already know most of the facts about the host country, so it's not that necessary for having the contest. People will be much more inclined to host, if it's just calculating the results and preparing only the general tables of the Grand finale.

I don't think people have issues with the listening of the songs, after all there is usually a month or more for submitting the votes, so there is enough time. If people listen to 3 songs every day, that's just 12 minutes.

@Sindois there a way we can develop a tool on the website that could auto update votes during the contest every 15min or 30 min and have like 15-20 rounds of updates.

The live score link can be shown on homepage. Developing one might take time but once done it should make the work easier. We can post our comments as usual but don't need to wait for host or concerned person to post votes.

It should be like live scoreboard of sports where all data is provided and the changes to it will be updated based on pre determined time. What say?

That would surely be a great feature, but I think developing that would be very expensive/time consuming.

There was no contest in spring, but we can have any hope for contest in autmn? Or it will be first year without TISC since 2013? Who should be host now or who would want to be?

Isn’t it @Hipooothat are the first opinion as host as last year’s winner?
