Apparently the Poznan World Cup found its new home, in :GEO. It will be held in June.

So yeah, FIE is winning this fight so far. It seems the World Cup will continue, just with less Western European hosts. And without Ukraine.

They will ultimately lose because the Olympics will either get cancelled or boycotted to the extent that it is discredited.

They will have to work extra hard for the team quotas in that case because none of the Ukrainian teams would qualify to Paris based on the current world ranking. And if they won't participate in individual events, athletes like Olha Kharlan won't have a chance to get the individual quota from the ranking if her team fails to qualify.

If these rumors are confirmed, then, of course, we will have to focus on the teams. In our case, it doesn't make much sense to pay attention to the current ranking, because fencers like Igor Reizlin or Alina Komaschuk missed most of the team events. We have certain drafts for each weapon, because Ukraine is one of the strong fencing countries and we cannot give up in such a case.

About Olga - I think she will be able to qualify through the European qualification, but I would like a redemption of Ukraine in the team saber

It seems that the Russian athletes were not cleared for the first Grand Prix in Seoul this weekend.

At least there are no Russians in the pools for tomorrow.

not surprised after Medvedev and Lavrov's last week's words...

    • Yes, but what I mean for Serbia is that everything changed there (unfortunately for us ). 2022 was an unbelievable mess, that's not the case anymore now with just one athlete who has really gone for it and made it, so I'm 99% sure they'll accept it this time.   Who knows though. Plus there's always 1-2 bigger countries here or there who reject something, but it's not gonna be 16 places I'm afraid
    • Doping by Event Type When we look at which events have the most doping cases, a few categories stand out from recent sanction records: Long Distance (3,000m and above): 32% of cases Sprints (400m or less): 24% of cases Jumps: 12% of cases Javelin: 8% of cases Middle Distance (800m–1,500m): 8% of cases Hammer: 8% of cases Steeplechase (3,000m SC): 4% of cases

It’s worth noting that 199 of World Athletics’ 214 member federations have no athletes on the current ban list. This means the problem is really concentrated in a small number of places.
