idk i feel the 7-1 was quite more of a painful one. I mean yeah it was not in the final, and it was against German football machine, but 7.... against the football nation, 5 times champion, playing at home in a full yellow-green coloured stadium..... and again, seven goals....

yeah, but that's about the numbers...the German win itself was not out of order.

we're talking of teams winning matches that nobody would expect to happen.

no doubt that it was really painful (and somehow "unforgettable"), though.

Just a reminder :POL has won their opening match of World Cup only once in history:

1938 - lost to Brazil 5-6 after extra time

1974 - beat Argentina 3-2

1978 - 0-0 vs West Germany

1982 - 0-0 vs Italy

1986 - 0-0 vs Morocco

2002 - lost to South Korea 0-2

2006 - lost to Ecuador 0-2

2018 - lost to Senegal 1-2

I agree on the top 2, but today's score is nothing compared to 1950 decisive match :BRA  1:2 :URU

and also a few more upsets in the history of the WC are comparable to this one...

Uruguay was a World Cup champion in 1930. It's not like the nation had zero experience in football and no titles to celebrate, unlike North Korea and the United States.

But I get your point. For sure, a top 5 surprising defeat, alongside the USA and North Korea ones, and both the Maracanazo and the 7 x 1.
