23-24 February 2019 African Championships - African Qualifying Competition, Cairo (EGY)

:EGY Egypt for sure, probably also :RSA  RSA (Oosthuizen, Burger) and some totally unknown individuals (four years ago there was someone from :KEN Kenya, :BUR Burkina Faso, :MRI Mauritius and :MAD Madagascar). But let's be honest - Egypt will get both quotas for sure. The question is if they will use it after possible qualification from World Ranking and the second nation (RSA probably) will get the quota reallocation.

The reallocation of unused quotas goes to the next highest ranked athlete from the Olympic Ranking List, as long as the minimal continental quota is respected. So as long as Egypt still competes African athletes would have to qualify the hard way.

The only exception would be if the winner of the African championship also wins the World Cup Final in which case the African quota would go to the second place athlete.

Oh, so there is something new this time. I think it's better, because the old way the coaches could have chosen the rivals for their athletes.

Egypt secured both quotas , in women haidy Morsy won and in men Sherif Nazeer won , btw it was really tough competition in the women' side , the SA athlete was leading till the vary last lap

    • Yeah. It was pretty bad that they cancel the contract with the original creative director after 7 months of work. I feel like politics, in this particular context of the changing of prime minister and the cabinet, may had caused changes in organizational decisions regarding the Sea Games including the direction of the opening ceremony.
    • That's what I figured.  Wouldn't be a proper lead up to an Olympics without some media-fueled fearmongering.
    • Today : Jordan 3-0 Egypt  This team will surprise us
