Hope Nathan Hales doesn't get confused and shoot at her instead of the clay targets :p  :roflmao:

Good that someone from Pan America qualified here. Not that we are anywhere close at grabbing one of the Pan American quotas, but getting rid of some competition is always good.

We think alike. Every European quota won here reduces the competition at the next continental championships.

Chatzitsakiroglou 9th in the men's trap is not a bad result. He's very young, I hope he can qualify for Paris (which I have been expecting him to do!)

I am, once again, asking why the heck there are two bronze medals in these mixed shooting team events.

Are these going to be the first ever predetermined double bronze medals at the Olympics outside of combat sports?

It's worth noting that even the days of all the weird rules of Paris 1900 and St. Louis 1904 nobody thought about awarding two bronze medals just... because.

In Tokyo they had a shoot off for the bronze in the mixed team event so I would imagine the same will apply in Paris.

Badminton, Tennis and Table Tennis all awarded two bronze medals in 1992 (and also in 1988 for Tennis).

    • Also it being illegal in France means the IOC will have to test everyone pre arriving at 2030 and can’t wait till they arrive at the Games to do so. I’m sure at 2028 for some sports testing will happen on site if it’s not a rule of its governing body for non Olympic events. So far only a few sports like Athletics and Boxing have that rule - I suspect others will adopt it but others might take time.
    • https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/olympics/articles/cpwj78lxypro ‘In France - one of a number of countries where genetic testing is illegal without a medical prescription due to privacy laws - the government has condemned the decision as "a step backwards". "It defines the female sex without taking into account the biological specificities of intersex individuals, whose sexual characteristics present natural variations, leading to a reductive and potentially stigmatising approach," claimed French Sports Minister Marina Ferrari.”   ‘A group of legal experts in human rights and sports have since expressed, external"urgent concern" about what they called "the regressive move toward genetic testing as a precondition of participation in women's sport" which they say "violate domestic and international laws that protect human rights and regulate the use of genetic testing and genetic information".  The group has called on athletes "to challenge the national or regional implementation of mandatory genetic sex testing, demanded by the IOC or international federations, before domestic courts, by invoking national or regional laws protecting human rights, prohibiting anti-discrimination, and regulating the use of genetic testing and genetic data".’   Domestic laws are more challenging for the IOC to deal with than CAS. Things could get complicated for a bit.
    • Except NOC’s and governing bodies have to still follow local laws. Particularly for Under 18’s there could certainly be domestic legal issues regarding associations paying for travel to other counties to circumvent a domestic ban. Child protection services don’t always act reasonable to attempts to break a domestic law.
