good for Italy that we have 2 girls in the final, but we already have our Olympic quota in this discipline...

the real disaster is the men's trap, where we don't have any quota yet, and also in this competition we are already almost out of contention (only the less experienced and expected of our 3 shooters is within 1 hit target of the 11-man leading pack after day #1 of the qualification round, meanwhile Pellielo and Frasca are shamefully at the bottom of the ranking)...:facepalm::wall:

With Quooß losing the place for the final, this was the next best result from my point of view.  First of all, both can't win a quota place at the European qualification Events anymore. And second, Couzy can't win a quota place through World Ranking, where Quooß has a realistic chance.

By the way, I'm really excited if one needs to hit every target to make it to the man's final (or if even this might not be enogh to be sure).

    • Yeah, we have such a strong crop of Juniors, that we can’t take them all. They all have exciting trajectories but to predict what Junior swimmers will is always difficult. Better to let them all swim together at Juniors than rocketing them all up to seniors and swimming a prelim and going home.
    • Hanlon is the most unlucky, in my opinion. Aside from relay cover, she's the 50m champ and they made a point of including consideration for those events being in LA for the other discretionary picks. Essentially she has the same case for selection as Max Morgan (albeit without the trajectory right now).   Blocksidge's form was way off this week (compared to her previous bests). Obviously being still young you could put that down to relative inexperience. Still, she has World and European Juniors that she could still be selected for this summer. There's an argument that performing well at those might be as beneficial as going to Singapore.   That said, I'm happy that they did take a bunch of discretionary picks. That's not always been the case.

    • it was below and over 57/73kg (4 categories, 2 for men and 2 for women), if I remember correctly    however, basically they gave a title shot to a meaningless competition, in order to try and relive the open category, but it was a fiasco
