This is my viewpoint at this point (for all Olympic sports). Either very few people are doping and WADA is trying to catch people, or WADA is only catching certain people that they want too (scenario I hate the most), or more likely in some sports everyone is doping (so competition is somewhat fair) and in other sports not many are and those that do get caught (fair).

Based on history, I bet everyone's using doping but only some get caught. And let's be honest, there's a special emphasis on countries like Russia, China or East Africa while the Western countries are able to get away with it. The last major doping scandal involving track & field athletes from USA only got exposed because it was so big it stretched beyond this single event.

Imagine if Coleman was Russian or Kenyan. He'd be eaten alive by all the Western media. Now it's just finding excuses for him.

Few years ago I used to hate Dwain Chambers but at least he was honest about his doping. No typical bullshit we hear all the time now.

I think that is has become just a phrase or a make-believe truth here that "the Western media" only scandalizes doping in countries which are not part of the so called "West". In the real world, several reputable newspapers and TV stations in Germany reported in detail about Coleman and his missed tests were the top topic of the first days of the WCh (next to the farce all around this year's WCh). Nobody here believes his shady excuses (noone in any country with any brain cells left should). Same thing happened when Lance Armstrong, Marion Jones or Maurice Greene got caught. And moreover, I am pretty sure that ARD (TV station which inverstigations had a huge impact to uncover the Russian state-sponsered doping) will do the same efforts if there are hints, witnesses, victims regarding a possible doping scandal in the US or any other "Western" country.

Somehow I don't believe ARD would be let anywhere near the Salazar's empire in Oregon though. And Mo Farah is treated like a God by BBC & the UK media. So there is that. I believe Farah got warned off after his 2015 DNA passport anomalies so that he came away clean come 2016. There is some protection involved IMO. Sebastian Coe has a strong ally in the Caster Semenya controversy so he's gonna ride this horse out to appease the public while protecting the USA & UK. Not to mention Russia & Kenya are easy punchbags too.

Reigning world champion Dafne Schippers has signed out for the 200 meter due to a groin injury.

Very disappointing for :NED , probably she won't compete in the relay 4x100 either.

F1 and all motosports are crap. Just driving circles and noise and pollution. Apart from Formula E, where it's just driving circles.

I went to an F1 race a year ago with a friend.  I'm not into motosports and found it pretty boring but I tried to be positive for my friend who was a huge F1 fan his whole life and was excited to see his first race live.  After the event he turned to me and said, "That was one of the most boring things I've ever seen".  I guess it's better on TV?  Still not my cup of tea, personally.  Although growing up in Montreal, the party atmosphere on Grand Prix weekend was always fun.

    • Many things, probably they thought it is already over and the win will come itself... but also Nitra improved their play a lot, they outplayed us in physicality in the last 2 games, they won almost every duel. Was hard to watch. Anyway I am still persuated we will finish the job at home with success on Tuesday
    • If you look at their results this season and on the Super Series, it’s not really that surprising.    I’d consider them to be medal contenders.
    • At one point it seemed we were making good progress in this sport, but in the past 1-2 years things seem to have hit a standstill..   Ivaylo Ivanov is still our only elite judoka, but he is passing 30. There were/are some promising youngsters, but they haven't been able to make a jump to the senior level. At this Euro we barely had any first round wins (not including Ivanov). In fencing and taekwondo the results are much more visible for us.
    • yes, but that's only an (important) episode... I mean, what's up with your team more in general...it looks like they got the classic "fear to win", they're not as brilliant as they were in the early games of the series
    • after a few leagues ended well before the true climax, now we have both leagues from the good, old Czechoslovakia going to game #7    shame that both games will be at the exact same time
    • complete blackout resulting in a 5 minutes major 3 minutes to the end
    • Extraliga Playoffs   The Finals (Best-of-7 Series)   Game #6: HC Kometa Brno (4) - HC Dynamo Pardubice (3)  1-5 (0-1, 0-1, 1-3)   the series is tied 3-3 and also in Czechia we're gonna watch the magic of a game 7...Extraliga does never disappoint its fans    Game #7 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th in Pardubice @ 6 p.m. CET
    • Extraliga Playoffs   The Finals (Best-of-7 Series)   Game #6: HK Nitra (3) b. HC Košice (2)  3-1 (1-0, 0-0, 2-1)   Series is tied 3-3, so we go to a high drama decider in a couple of days   Game #7 is scheduled for Tuesday, April 29th in Košice @ 6 p.m. CET     @hckošice  what's happening there?
    • what a missed chance for     but Giorgia Stangherlin first and Asya Tavano then (in the playoff match, having clearly won the "regular" match against the same opponent) wasted the biggest occasion we ever had in this kind of competition   moreover, in the final match of the "regular 6", Veronica Toniolo got a serious knee injury against Eteri Liparteliani (the match was into the golden score period): she was carted off on a stretcher, screaming in pain
    • Pogacar just makes it look so easy.  As absurd as it may seem, i actually believe he is thinking about winning all 5 Monuments in one year.   He is likely to have 3 wins and 2 podiums this year, so the goals are set for 26,27
