For these additional sports, we could imagine: 1 host country 1 World Cup 1 Europe 1 America 1 Asia 1 Africa Oceania?

Really hard to see how they design a fair qualification system for cricket given the small number of available quota spots.

I have an online friend who is a rower in the USA. He thought it was a late April Fools when I told him about the 2032 plan for rowing.

I think for cricket, given the state of affairs of West Indies cricket 1 America doesn't sound right. Oceania is definitely going to get 1 with Australia and New Zealand both present. It could be Europe-America combined 1.

But that said it could well be top 5 in ICC rankings+ Hosts

Well, personally I’m mixed about this changes, the folks over in the IOC are failing to realise that events with small amount of participants from a very select and small amount of countries are deemed to be limited in their exposure and thus their success, I mean outside of the mega successful countries the main focus in the games is on the mega stars and core sports and also where the local athletes at, if squash or cricket is bound to be limited to small amount of participants, then it will not get a lot of exposure and will be eventually be like the baseball on and off all the time, I like the idea of adding the 50m in swimming to all styles because you can have a lot of countries involved, also the compound archery making archery bigger and climbing as well for me are good changes

Might be wront because I'm transcribing while watching live (while also being on a work meeting)

  • 50m events in all strokes
  • 12 women's teams in water polo
  • Compound (!) mixed team event archery
  • 4x100m mixed relay in athletics
  • Mixed race walk relay removed :(
  • 12 teams in 3x3 basketball
  • 7 men's and women's events in boxing
  • Football will have 16 women's teams and 12 men's teams
  • Mixed team event in golf
  • Mixed artistic gymnastics team event (!)
  • Coastal rowing is three events (men's, women's, mixed double sculls), removing lightweight rowing
  • NO MORE COMBINED IN CLIMBING! Speed, boulder and lead are all different events
  • Mixed team event in table tennis (in addition to mixed doubles? O.o)
  • 10500 athlete quota only applies to core sports for LA
  • More women's quotas than men's quotas overall

Honnestly this is not as bad as I feared? The additional sports being outside of the 10500 athlete quota is a *huge* relief.

this and the Sport Climbing end of the senseless combined era are the only good news

personally, I'm OK with the 50m swimming events in, but after that, I'd have switched the mixed relay to open water swimming at least

anything else, just pure shit (compound archery mixed team? and no individual events? c'mon! more 3x3 farce basketball teams and only 6 cricket/baseball/softball teams? bleah! not to mention the football pure woke move...disgusting!)

so, Table Tennis loses the single gender team events, replaced by the mixed team event and there's also the comeback of the single gender doubles beside the confirmed mixed doubles

all of that, just to gift :CHN a few more free gold medals

meanwhile Tennis will have a mixed event rather than the classic mixed doubles...we'll see what they will figure out for that :mumble:

    • I think I can live with the draw , not a bad group at all. just a week ago our mafia coach said his dream group is Belgium, Egypt and Haiti, he almost got that !   but it's really hard for me (and so many others) to cheer for this team, A mafia boss coach, disgusting group of players. I never had this feeling about any NT in any sport before but still the national team is the national team. you have to like it  coaches and players come and go, the team is what matters.   if the team makes it to the competition, I'm sure there will be lots of Iranians in the stadium despite the orange's ban, that will never be a problem.
    • Belgium is the luckiest in this story
    • One of the worst possible draw for us. Group really easy but having to face  or  in the Round of 32 is devastating.
