Young Taynara in her biathlon debut season. Well, oops. Still beat Croatia though (thanks to an 8 minute penalty for presumably missing 4 penalty laps, but that happens to the best I guess), @dcro 1-0.

Well, would you look at that. There's a 16 yo Andorran on the start list tomorrow :)

Teenage Andorrans, Brazilians (and even better, a girl, since there's a severe lack of them in the Brazilian XC/biathlon world) and Chileans making their debut this season, excellent stuff.

  • 3 weeks later...

how to turn one of the most beautiful days in the Italian Biathlon history in one of the saddest...:(

our young and promising athlete Hannes Breitenberger died earlier today at the age of just 18...

the circumstances of his death are still unclear (they first talked of a snowboard incident, but this has been denied)...

R.I.P. Hannes

The President of the Russian Biathlon Association Vladimir Drachev will address what he perceives as harassment of Alexander Loginov to the IBU.

The Russians are annoyed that there are constantly derogatory comments about Alexander Loginov who returned last season

- We will talk about the harassment of Loginov with IBU, says Drachev to Russian Sport-Express.

Not even Team Sky is such a big cry baby.

It's great to see heywoodu is not the only Dutch person who follows biathlon passionately.

Do you know this guy, @heywoodu?

    • c'mon! KOR dq in the men's relay is really a farce, a disgrace for the sport...and ITA have nothing to do with that
    • The only ones complaining about the short track refs are Italians, imo. Not even on this forum, but in general, from what I've been seeing on live chats and other social media sites. That says a lot to be honest. I suspect it's partially due to them not performing to the high standard they're expected to perform at especially at the Olympics. The refs make a lot of mistakes for everyone, there's no bias against or towards anyone    Plus, Italy have won 6 medals already.... the most you've won at a Worlds since 2016.
    • For me they gave Canada the gold in the relay in exchange for a 1000-meter dsq gold for Dandjinou, that's how I see it. It was a battle between Kor and Can on 2 of this case. It's hard to say why that last dsq for Kor was in relay? Of course, Italy win bronze thanks for that, but that's not really important. It would have been better if the referees had just stayed out of the results and left it as it was decided for fight on the ice.

    • the quata for europe or australia is from the primer 12, where the top 20 teams will participate, sadly  is the 21th team so the only slight chance for us in my opinion is if: we get top 2 at the european championship (not including  hopefully if they get the quata), then somehow win the final qualification tournament against i assume  and one of    the chances for us are slim, i think about 4 other team sports  have a better chance in in my opinion(and the most team sports we ever had was one, and it was the last two time after a long time )
