Getting matches. The tournament isn’t purely an Olympic qualifier, it’s also used as an opportunity for the national teams to play and gain ranking points.

And what if Japan somehow will win this tournament and will qualify to Olympic qualifiers? They still will play there or an team will replace them, as they are already qualified not only as host nation but also as a winner of Asian Games?

If Japan finishes in top two here, their spot in Qualifiers will be given to next highest ranked nation not already qualified to Olympics or qualifiers

Goes to the world ranking. Same thing happens if Scotland or Wales finishes in the top 2, btw.

A very sad and shameful situation for the Mexican women playing at Hiroshima... the Mexican sport authorities had not paid their hotel yet, so they were in risk of being thrown out; at the last moment a fan or acquaintance of the team tagged Guillermo Del Toro on Twitter so he could use his followers to make the affair of general knowledge to the press, since our current government and in concrete, the director of the Sports Commission (a former Olympic medalist and world champion herself ) have tried to supress any recent criticism; he answered almost immediately, which in turn made the authorities make the late payment, to their own embarrasement.

wow Canada destroyed Italy 7-0

 

They have been superb during this tournament, even tied Spain and topped the group.

 

Too bad despite this they are certain to get one of England, Germany or NZ in the play-offs. I think however with this level they have a legitimate chance to get a silver at the pan american games.

 

 

Italy is sure to play the play-offs as well, this loss doesn't change much for them.

Yeah, quite happy for Canada, they needed this win as their ranking may not be enough to make the play-offs and even though we'll likely lose to a top team it's still nice to see the girls playing well.

Lol Own the Podium funded the women till 2016, while the men go no funding, and now four years later its the opposite, with the women looking like the better team

Hopefully New Zealand, I think that would be the best case scenario (they tied at the 2018 CWG)
