as a result of over pushing him in snatch he's injured , he can even fail in 3 attempts in 208 , these coaches are really anticlimactic

and the Iranian coach increases 11 kilos between 1st and 2nd attempt !

that's pretty normal for our coach :d they always do this for almost everybody. having a low 1st attempt and then jump as much as possible for the next attempts. this time the jump was bigger Dehdar had lifted 219kg before so it wasn't completely out of his reach but not today.

we have a very weak team here in general. I was only expecting one medal at 102kg. (81kg medal was quite surprising) our top weightlifters (Moradi and Rostami) are boycotting the national team  and Olympic silver medalist Davoudi decided to take a break.

A medal for Brazil! Now, that's one of the biggest surprises this year!

I know it's a small medal, but this sport is virtually nonexistent here.

Motamedi underperformed today but still it was good enough for a world title :champion: (thanks to the general level of the competition) we also had a surprise bronze medal.

I think this is it, 3 total medals , 1 G, 1 S and 1 B. there will be no medal for the rest of the team even though I'm looking forward to see 18 years old Alireza Yousefi, he surprised everybody at the 2018 Youth Olympics when he was 15 but got injured after that and this is his comeback.

Perhaps you don't really follow the sport I'll say.

Both Albania (just 2kg) and pakistan were close to medals at Tokyo Olympics. Kyrgyzstan did have a medallist in Rio before doping. Malaysia had a decent squad. Top 5/6 lifters in each category are not here . Korea, Colombia and a few teams are sending the best that's it.

    • Weightlifting formula is more or less similar to 2020 which was considered terrible by everybody!    this is a tough sport, you can't be in your best shape for too many events. there will be risks of serious injuries this way. with these rules you need 5 good results to qualify. if you bomb out in an event to score a zero you are out of the Olympics unless you replace it with another event. which means most of these poor guys have to participate in 7-8 events (and not just 5) to make up for possible bomb outs.    most importantly if you get injured anytime during this period (almost 2 years) you are out of the Olympics! that's how Sohrab Moradi missed the Tokyo Olympics despite breaking the WR during the qualification period. you can miss the Olympics in 2028 if you get injured late 2026 !  Karlos Nasar couldn't win the Olympic title if we had these rules in 2024   I understand 2024 qualification formula wasn't great either, it had its own flaws but this one is much worse for threatening athletes' health.

Although the agenda has not been published yet, there shouldn’t be any major items over these two days, apart from the election of a member of the IOC Executive Board. This will be the eighth time the session is held in Italy, the last one being during the Turin 2006 Olympic Games.

    • Weightlifting We now have six events per gender with a total of 10 athletes per event.   The Olympic Qualification Rankings will be based on the sum of the total results of five events (three from period 1 and two from period 2). The top 8 will qualify.   The 9th spot will also be based on the OQR, but it will go to the highest ranked athlete from an unrepresented continent.   The 10th spot will be split between the host and universality (3 each per gender). Should the United States qualify normally then their host quota will be reduced, first going to an athlete from an unrepresented continent then to the overall highest ranked athlete.   Additionally, a "Best Lifter" will be awarded which would give the nation the chance to qualify 4 athletes rather than the max of 3.
