Where's @hckosice at? That 1500m. boys medal was probably a bit of a surprise for him :p

In fact no, we expected something just from him, He seems love the Gyor track as he won our only Athletics medal last year at the EYOF right there :d

The nice surprise is 4 quotas for the youth Olympics, this is really above any optimistic expectations :yes

Okay, Maria Vicente is a monster :yikes: Only now did I notice that she qualified to the triple jump final and she has a shot of a medal there too

If Patience had performed as expected yesterday, we might actually have been top of the medal table. Incredible! Plus Cian McPhilips could have done better in the 1500m but his shoe had another idea :d

Great times for our underage athletics it seems :)

Best results so far in my opinion:

On the men's side:

110 m hurdles

Hammer throw

Javelin throw

On the women's side:

3000 m

Hammer throw

Heptathlon

The biggest mystery so far for me has been GB in the sprints. Where are all their talents in the sprints? In many races they don't even have starters ... :mumble:

Germany is absolutely shocking in throwing events, but that clearly is a trend. Personally i prefer for example 3 medals in track events over 8 medals in throwing events, but most german people probably disagree. From a german perspective my highlights so far have been the silver for Marie Scheppan in women's 400 m (fastest time for a german U20 runner in this century for 17 yo Scheppan) and the gold for Leni Wildgrube in the pole vault who improved her PB by 6 cm. We might even see Scheppan at the senior european championships as part of the 4 x 400 m relay.

Attachment is the great fabricator of illusions; reality can be obtained only by someone who is detached.

Time for our only medal and possible Gold of the championships - Aleksandra Nacheva in the triple jump.  Big talent, leader in both U18 and U20 with 14.00 for the season.

She wasn’t a top-tier athlete in that program anymore. She was at the end of her career. I would personally would rather race against Katie. She’s not as competitive as the other athletes,” he said. “It’s probably really unfair to say and not really where I want to go with this but that’s where we are with that.”   Uhlaender: “If I were Canada, I would be concerned in how this coach is representing the Olympic values for his country,” Uhlaender told Fox News Digital. “He hurt a whole field of athletes, all with dreams, and this sends the message that they don’t matter unless they are number one. All athletes matter, and we all deserve to compete fairly, with integrity, and respect. He did not respect anyone in that field. “This is not about my resume or how good the athletes were in the race. This is about the fact that he intentionally manipulated the competition to hurt myself and 13 other countries because he felt it necessary to eliminate all possibility. That is against the spirit of sport and not what the Olympic movement represents.”   Isn't it great when other people's dirty laundry is aired?  /sarcasm     (I was a little surprised to see NPR pick this up, but per this article, Uhlaender preemptively recorded the phone call after receiving a text from Cecchini that said he had 'bad news' for her.)
    • Idea (that I don't want to mess with right now, but someone else can steal the idea): Could feed the docs from LA28 + Paris 2024 through AI and see what it says.  (Would just take downloading them, perhaps merging them for ease of upload, and passing it through.)
    • If you have time would love to see a sport by sport overview of the changes/new sports
    • Slowly going through the documents.   Looks like canoe slalom qualifiers will be a bit different. More kayak cross quotas which will let nations to essentially qualify two kayakers.
    • How about we choose either Rome or Milano  I hate this timeline we have entered of multiple host cities / countries. The football World Cup became ludicrous, we don't need the Olympics to join them. At least not more than they already are.

    • I'm also reminded as I know Canadians are painfully aware that if figures hadn't been a part of the 1984 Olympics, then Brian Orser would have won gold.  Hamilton could have finished 4th in the free skate that year and still beat Orser who finished 7th in the figures
