Speed Skating ISU World Cup 2021 - 2022

Nearly all of the top Dutch skaters have gone home to prepare for the OQT around Christmas, so they'll skip Calgary. This is done under the assumption the maximum number of quota are already certain, with the men's mass start (although Jorrit Bergsma went home as well) and the women's 3k as exceptions.

Very risky, I have a feeling we’ll lose some quotas because of this decision.

If they lose *any* quota it reduces the max number of skaters from the already low maximum of 9 to 8 (it was 10 in Pyeongchang).

Mass start has 6 or 8 teams qualifying? Any chance for Japanese Men to qualify after their fall in SLC?

I think you mean team pursuit. Yes, 6 teams by points and 2 of remaining teams by fastest time. Japan have a very good chance to be the 2 fastest time if they surpass KOR's performance in USA.

Last two spots are by time, so if they run a good race in Salt Lake City they should get one of those two spots.

They won't qualify by points.
