Afghanistan secured a bronze medal in Wushu. I wasn't sure if they can win a medal in the whole Games since their taekwondo isn't good anymore and Cricket is not in the program.. good for them.

Yeah in a blind draw and knockout system. Korean guy just took a round from invincible China, still lost 2-1 and will go home empty handed.

one of our Sanda players are already out, but from what I see we will have 5 (out of 6) Iran-China finals. at least this time luck separates Iran and China in all (but one) weights till the final.

The final moments can be compiled into "dont celebrate too early moments". Just watched the re-run..

no it wasn't like she conceded the last point because of her celebration. they both scored at the same time on the last second , KOR scored one point punch while China scored two points body kick. the scoreboard showed Chinese score just a moment later. punch scores and body kick scores come from two different systems, that's why the delay.

but yeah that was quite a dramatic ending. and I think a well deserved gold for China.

:PHI Philippines wasted a golden chance to beat :CHN China in basketball.

yeah I watched the game. very entertaining game. Clarkson missed a jump shot in last 30 seconds, they still had the last ball but went for a stupid 3.

that would secure at least a silver medal for them. now I can say China is already in the final. because there are only 4 "good" teams here and 3 of them are on the other side of the draw. Philippines have to play South Korea in quarterfinal and the winner will get Iran in the semis.

:BAN Shana finishes 3rd in men's archery seeding. :hyper:

Great chance for him to qualify to the Olympics, but he must reach the semi-finals. He has avoided most of the tough people (no KOR,CHN,TPE and JPN until the semifinal) though, based on seeding Kazakhstan will be his quarterfinal opponent if things go well.

lol they added everything they had into the program. Poomsae, Paragliding, Dragon boat, Jet Ski, bridge and of course Pencak silat and they even selected events in other sports for their own benefit . for example they dropped all 3 heaviest weights in boxing. heaveist weight in Wushu. they also wanted to drop some Olympic events in Weightlifting and Karate.

Also the absolutely ridiculous thing they have done in not having  compound mens and womens individual , dropping team events in shooting ...... I am convinced that they have decided they must come at least 4th or 5th  and the only way is to reduce medals for people like India and Iran who woudl otherwise compete for these positions

strength does not come from physical capacity but from an indomitable will. - Gandhi

    • To be fair, the only way to make the qualifying day shorter is by allowing fewer athletes and I really don't think that's a good trade-off for the sport. Qualifying day can be the biggest spectacle one can imagine, it's still not going to draw amazing viewing numbers anyway, since it's basically just laying the foundation for the weekend.   Ice resurfacing definitely takes a while if done properly, if pushing it they could maybe get it done just under 15 minutes or so. I'm a little afraid it goes the way of athletics, where things are pushed more and more into ever shorter formats. Shorttrack days and sessions can only realistically be made shorter if they spread a World Cup out over 4 instead of 3 days, but it's not like Thursday is going to be a massive audience day.
    • I wish the ISU would make each of the sessions shorter… they all last between 3-5 hours (and sometimes 10 hours with the qualifying sessions) and me personally I find it highly annoying and unnecessary, because there’s so many breaks in between (for ice resurfacing it’s understandable, but it doesn’t take the 15-20 minutes long breaks to do it…)
    • The only thing I can think of that has gotten in the way can be geo-restrictions, like the Fridays being available on YouTube, but not the Saturdays and Sundays, preventing new people from really getting into it. Somehow I doubt a new format means it will be made more welcoming for new viewers though...
    • But what can be improved? Broadcasting has for years already been excellent, with races that are quite clear to follow and fine graphics that have all we need. How is "Suzanne Schulting for the Dutch Lions!" instead of "Suzanne Schulting from the Netherlands!" going to make it a better 'broadcast product'?
    • I do think we need a rethink of how short track is packaged as a broadcast product given how little money is involved. Pretty hard to make a living in that sport.
    • Finals are set    An all-Canadian final on the women’s side, as Team Homan looks to win their third title of the season (and improve to 18-1) against a hungry Team Einarson who have had a less than ideal start to the season, they were also the last Canadian team to beat Homan over a year ago (same event coincidentally), while on the men’s side it’ll be a battle between Olympic medalists as Team Mouat goes against Team Gushue!
