Speed Skating at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022

Wow, Wüst

Of all performances I've seen in speed skating during the years, this ranks very, very high. And the outburst of emotion after the race was over and she was in interview mode was heartbreaking and beautiful, she basically broke as soon as Paulien van Deutekom was mentioned (her best friend and a former speed skating world champion, same generation, who died three years ago after a short illness).

Agree completely! I felt immediately after Wüst's race that we witnessed Dutch sports history right there.

Tomorrow we have the men's 1.500m starting two hours later than the other races so far. This will probably be one of the most competitive distances with about 8 realistic favorites for the medals and even more outsiders. My prediction:

  1. :NED Thomas Krol
  2. :USA Joey Mantia
  3. :CHN Ning Zhongyan
  4. :KOR Kim Min-Seok
  5. :NED Kjeld Nuis

  6. :CAN Connor Howe
  7. :JPN Seitaro Ichinohe
  8. :NOR Allan Dahl Johansson
  9. :JPN Takuro Oda
  10. :NOR Peder Kongshaug

  11. :BEL Bart Swings
  12. :NOR Kristian Ulekleiv
  13. :ROC Daniil Aldoshkin
  14. :USA Emery Lehman
  15. :ROC Sergey Trofimov

  16. :BEL Mathias Vosté
  17. :KAZ Dmitry Morozov
  18. :GBR Cornelius Kersten
  19. :CHN Wang Haotian
  20. :USA Casey Dawson

  21. :CAN Tyson Langelaar
  22. :ITA Alessio Trentini
  23. :NED Marcel Bosker
  24. :CHN Lian Ziwen
  25. :KOR Park Seong-Hyeon
