Weightlifting Qualification to Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

Recommended Posts

I have done a simulation of the possible entry lists for Paris 2024.

This simulation is based on the latest OQR from IWF (published March 4th).

12 entries per weight. Maximum 3 lifters per NOC per gender. Host country (France) using all their 3 quotas across both genders (6 in total). Universality places are distrubuted accordingly to follow the mentioned criteria before.

Green = Qualified/Selected

Red = Not selected due to exceeding NOC's maximum quotas per gender

Yellow = Already selected for another weightclass

One more chance for the young Sofia Georgopoulou to lift an additional 10-15 kg or so, otherwise :GRE will not participate in weightlifting at the Olympics for the first time since 1956 :cry:

Reminder that in 1996 we won the weightlifting medal table at the Olympics, and in 2000 we were second in the medal table...

:UZB Rustam Djangabaev (6th in current ranking at +102kg) is tested positive for doping, his name had been removed from the World Cup start list, which means he is not going to Paris 2024 anyway

that's his 2nd time, we won't see him for a while, maybe forever.

This compulsory world cup will be served as Chinese internal trials. There is no clear quantitive method for trials but I personally sum up as follows. For men's side, whichever 3 categories winning the golds will go to OG, if winning 4 golds or less than 3 golds then comparing the winning/losing margin. For women's side, 81kg and 81kg+ will be (most probably) selected if winning the golds. For 49kg, 59kg and 71kg whichever winning over North Korea will be selected. If no categories or more than 2 categories winning over North Korea, then comparing the winning/losing margin.

Hey Any Idea about the selection of chinese team for Paris??The Paris 2024 Olympic Qualification period ends today officially.

No official update from the team. As far as I know the selection will be mainly decided by the World Cup result. So women's 49, 59, 81+ and Men's 61, 102 will be most likely selected. Men's 73 and 89 will fight for the last ticket in May depending on lifters' injury status.
