...And :RUS has selected a 10 year old for Skateboard :p. I can tell this competition is being taken semi-seriously becuase the athletes are generally ancient by skateboarding standards (20-24 years old), but they’re are still a few Sky Brown’s hanging around.

Half of all skateboarders are younger than :yikes:. In fairness, my age is changing soon...

1 Week To Go!

...And the results system is already published

I don’t know much about the Bornan system because they are a relatively new system. However this system is the same as the one used at the African Beach Games (which was pretty usable). Their systems also seem to be hardy, but can be a bit slow.

Here’s a what the skate park will look like:

Overall a very safe, standard design. Nothing all that interesting about the park. No unique features to speak of. Probably means that it will be a spin fest. I can never really tell until the skaters ride it though, so I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

Though I don’t follow the games, its medal table is my favourite of all multi-sports games.

Huh, I wonder why? :dunno:

I though so as well, but the people may be apprehensive after the bombings.

again Qatar is the host

In this class they were the best option. San Diego pulled out with 5-6 months to go, and Qatar stepped out. They are the only reason these games still exist.

Definitely a can’t miss. :NEP hosting a games where :BAN:IND:PAK compete against each other? Definite disaster.

If there’s no good options. 2032 is Australia’s to lose though, anyone “in the know” knows this

So after a bit of digging, it seems like the Pan Arab Games May be back from the dead. Most people thought the games were done after the 2015 fiascos (something 3-5 nations withdrew from hosting the games as the impacts of the Arab Spring and ISIS were felt across the region). However, it seems there’s still work going on behind the scenes. Rumor has it, because I’ve seen nothing official to confirm it, that :IRQ has been chosen as the host for the 2021 edition of the games. There’s no website, that I could find, or any sort of notice from the organizing committee as to if the games will actually take place. It would be fun to see these historic games continue, especially since they’re one of the few I’ve never been able to watch.

Also, don’t know if this was already said on here, but Brazil lost another medal to doping. Their men’s track cycling team sprint loses bronze.

Yeah , I wish Beach Taekwondo could make it to final list.

Beach Poomsae is the one type of Poomsae I find tolerable. I like to see the incorporation of some of the Asian Beach Games events into the games like, Beach Athletics, Coastal Rowing, and Powerboating (or Jetski). Plus maybe Beach Rugby, Beach Croquet or Woodball, and Obstacle Course.

Team Turkey :TUR consists 13 athletes in 3 diciplines. 3 in Karate , 2 in Kite and 8 in Beach wrestling.

:TUR should have a decent chance at winning a medal here. I’m shocked they didn’t qualify a bigger team to be honest. I guess the lack of combat sports really hurts them.

Apparently we will have 4. Our NOC decided to accept the femal marathon swimming quota for Karolína Balážiková. Let´s hope she will not accidentally swim into Iran.

It’s a shame they rejected the Boulder quota :(. I’ve never seen a Slovak climber before.

What about skateboarding?

I explained why this one made sense earlier. Street skating, Parkour, and Breaking are arguably the most urban sports in existence.

When the games were were supposed to be held in San Diego it made sense to include Park skating. First and foremost because the World Urban Games didn’t exist yet. Second because in California, Park Skating is highly associated with beaches. The most iconic skatepark in the world is at Venice Beach. So it made sense for skating to be included. Hopefully that answers your question.

As for Boulder, I’m pretty sure someone got drunk or hit their head after a good day of climbing and some how came to the conclusion that it’s a beach sport.

I'm surprised no one tried to force Parkour into this.

Parkour is most certainly not a beach sport. Parkour is one of the only legitimately urban sports out there.
