Wow, all Italian sprinters came out of nowhere, literally nowhere, to run amazing times.  Good for them!  Very.....surprising!

Pierce Lepage only 45 points off the podium, amazing first time performance.  And let's remember Warner also finished 5th at his first Olympics.

Lepage's PBs on javelin and 1500 are better than Maloney and would cover the gap, but we'll see what happens.  Obviously Mayer's PBs are much better than both of them, but he's not performing at his peak.  He's still so close it'd be a surprise if he doesn't pass both of them.  

 

Edit: Forgot about Scantling.  He's got a much better javelin PB, but it's from 5 years ago.  If he got up there it'd put him in the conversation, but his 1500 is slower, too.

Canada's protest against the USA in the relay has been denied.  I would still love to see a replay since everyone saw problems in real time.

Hmmm... That would put 9 teams in the final.  It's frustrating that Canada had a better time than both USA and Italy, but they did finish 6th in their heat.

Always suspicious to me when the don't show replays of dsq or near dsq.  Maybe I've just watched too much NHL.
