MHSN 3,221 Posted December 17, 2019 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2019 (edited) Brackets are out for the first day http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Draw-Sheet.pdf 68kg: mathematically impossible for anybody to qualify 80kg: only 1 athlete mathematically can grab the GS quota, Hwan (KOR) Hwan at least needs a bronze and he has to rank higher than Khramtcov. bad news for Hwan he is in the same half as Beigi ! 67kg: Oh Hye-ri was the only athlete with good chance for the quota and she is NOT in the start list, without her it will be really hard and almost impossible for anybody else to qualify. from the start list I think only Kim Jan-di (KOR) has a chance and she needs to win the gold and Lauren WIlliams not winning a medal. very unlikely. the quota will go to Paige McPherson most probably. MHSN 3,221 Posted December 18, 2019 #3 Share Posted December 18, 2019 Quota guaranteed for Paige McPherson (Women's 67kg) therefore South Korea can't have a full team in Tokyo
MHSN 3,221 Posted December 18, 2019 #4 Share Posted December 18, 2019 Finals: Women's 67kg: Pole vs Jelic Men's 68kg: Zhao vs Lee Men's +80kg: Khramtcov vs Hwan Khramtcov was a millimeter away from losing his QF to another Korean and already giving the quota to Hwan Nam-Goong. but now it goes to the last match of the day. Hwan has to win the gold for the quota. he beat Beigi in SF in a very exciting battle.
dcro 10,179 Posted December 18, 2019 #5 Share Posted December 18, 2019 That was nice and simple from Khramtcov. #banbestmen

You know Khramtcov was 1pts down in Golden round in last 5 seconds in QF against another Korean, he tied the round and won that match only by superiority the narrowest possible margin. he was supposed to give Korea false hope only to deny them at last ! so to make a summary nobody qualified through the Grand Slam Ranking today. all 3 quotas went to the World Ranking . Women's 67kg ==>> Paige McPherson Men's 68kg ==>> Mirhashem Hosseini Men's 80kg ==>> Toni Kanaet dcro, phelps, Function CR Lee and 3 others 2 2 1

MHSN 3,221 Posted December 18, 2019 #9 Share Posted December 18, 2019 2nd day draw http://www.worldtaekwondo.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/Draw-SheetDay-2-No-Contest-Number.pdf +80kg: Mardani is the main chance for the quota but he has to rank higher than In Kyo-Don and most probably win a bronze. but on paper there are chances for some athletes but most of them need both In Kyo-Don and Mardani losing in their first matches ! Radik Isaev has a better chance than others because he can qualify if he wins the gold and both thoese guys do not medal. 49kg: it's a sure thing China will grab the quota. Only 2 athletes are capable of grabbing the quota, Wenren Yuntao and Wu Jingyu both from China and even if both of them fail that will go to Wu Jingyu ! and it doesn't really matter who wins the quota, China can send any of these two girls (most probably Wu) 57kg: the only athlete capable of winning the GS quota is Zhou Lijun and she is also the 6th place ranked in WR ! which means she will win the quota 100%. ================ no much competition for 49 and 57, both quota go to China. only men's +80kg is a serious competition for the Grand Slam quota. Mahamo Cho is 6th in WR waiting for the results here. phelps
MHSN 3,221 Posted December 19, 2019 #10 Share Posted December 19, 2019 Mardani out in the first round, so it was all for nothing winning 2 quota was easy in Asian qualifiers, but Mardani lost 9-1 and 17-5 !!! I don't think the Chinese guy scored that much. it was a system error and the system was too generous to him ! once it gave 2pts while they were just watching each other, they only erased those 2pts but I think more than half of his points were wrong. but it doesn't matter anymore. so all 3 quotas are already decided Women's 49kg: Wu Jingyu Women's 57kg: Zhou Lijun Men's +80kg: Mahama Cho phelps and hckošice 1
