  1. Dammers picks up the third gold for Aruba I’d imagine they targeted this event for Pan Am qualification, so that should be two bowling quotas for
  2. Do the elimination rounds count as well, or only qualification? Yeah, that’s why I was asking. I wanted know if you or @JoshMartini007 knew which nations had declared eligibility for this event.
  3. @JoshMartini007 @intoronto any idea which countries might be eligible for the Pan Am bowling quotas or how that’s calculated?
  4. Fernandes won a tight semifinal to qualify for the women’s individual squash final. Guyana will add and silver or gold medal to their tally tomorrow
  5. I’m not sure that’s the case… didn’t enter anyone, so that might not be entitled to that eight quota. might be able to get it on a technicality.
  6. Open Water quotas from the South American Games. Men - / or Women - didn’t have a representative in the men’s race. The qualification document says the lead Chilean finisher earns a quota if not in the top 7. It isn’t clear on what happens if Chile doesn’t enter anyone.
  7. I don’t follow international handball too much outside of various multi-sports games, but the women’s side in South America seems pretty open behind Brazil. all registered relatively close results in games against each other, or at least there didn’t seem to be a more dominant side following Brazil. Any thoughts/analysis from our South American users, or those more knowledgeable on handball? Trying to figure out if getting the Pan Am quota is a surprise.
  8. won their second gold medal of the Games in women’s doubles bowling It’s been a great Games for them so far. I believe they’d never even won a gold medal before this edition (unless one of PanamSports, ODESUR, Centro Caribe Sports got it wrong.) Their athletes have certainly performed well in Asunción.
  9. I’m curious if any other countries/states/regions /etc. have “dueling” holidays like we have in California/U.S today. I was reminded today was Indigenous Peoples’ Day in California when my university welcomed indigenous groups to perform folk songs/dances on campus. However, other states and the federal government celebrate the day as Columbus Day, or in some cases, celebrate both as a holiday today. It’s a weird situation that rises from the legacy of colonization in the Americas and modern political discourse. I’m curious if there are situations of “duel” holidays like this in other places because it’s odd seeing different messaging for established holidays on the same day.
  10. It’s interesting to see that rugby sevens ended up with two completely different podiums. for men; for women
  11. Rugby Sevens quotas from the South American Games. Men - Women - has likely failed to qualify for the women’s tournament for the first time.
  12. Artistic Swimming ends up with the exact same podiums in both events. It made calculating the Pan Am quotas easier
  13. Artistic Swimming quotas from the South American Games. Team - Duet - returns to the sport after missing qualification in 2015 and 2019.
  14. Huge victory for them, and in front of the home crowd! guaranteed a spot on the men’s side as well, so not all is lost for them. Bronze medal matches in both genders will determine the second quota place.
  15. I believe the results system implemented for this edition of Games comes from Deporte Virtual. Bornan is the company doing the upcoming Pan American Games, Central American and Caribbean Games, and OCA Games @mrv86 Here’s an example of their results system from the 2022 GCC Games: https://results.kuwait2022.bornan.net/#/kuwait2022/schedule/grid Deporte Virtual generally handles events in Latin America. They did the results systems for the last two editions of the Boliviarian Games and South American Games, along with the Junior Pan American Games last year. It’s nice to see a Latin American technology firm getting involved in multi-sports games, but their results system definitely isn’t my favorite.
  16. Finally had a chance to watch some replays, and I feel the need to amend this skaters absolutely demolished the competition in both the men’s and women’s 10km points race on the road. They’re definitely still the class of continent.
  17. The video question reportedly explained these were to be seen more as a coat of arms for each event (can’t remember the French term used.) I saw some claims they’ll animated like Tokyo’s as well. If this is the real deal, it’s certainly a fresh take on the pictogram genre. I believe the Reddit discussion was started by this thread on Twitter.
  18. WingFoil will replace KiteFoil at the ANOC World Beach Games next year.
  19. Karate quotas from the South American Games: M Kata - M -60kg - M -67kg - M -75kg - M -84kg - M +84kg - W Kata - W -50kg - W -55kg - W -61kg - W -68kg - W +68kg -
  20. had players make it to quarterfinals in two separate events in badminton, but none were able to advance to the semifinals with a terrific showing though.
  21. Some surprising inclusions. Sad to see judo left off the program. It would appear rhythmic gymnastics has also been dropped.
  22. completed their sweep of the gold medals in triathlon. It’s not really shocking they won the mixed relay after their performance in the individual events. Guess they can focus on Santiago 2023 now.
  23. I think they’re underselling it at $195
  24. They generally post replays of the finals, though it can take a few days for them to appear.
