  1. Nairn takes it on countback. joins the medal count
  2. Oluwafemiayo makes it 13/15 for Nigeria in powerlifting at the Commonwealth Games. She bags a WR as well.
  3. Haye-Smith into the women’s 400m hurdles final. I don’t think she win her CGA’s first medal though.
  4. She gets a nearly two meter improvement on the second throw
  5. Nwachuku opens the women’s F42-44/F61-64 discus with a WR!
  6. Some long awaited news on the next potential Asian Winter Games: https://www.infobae.com/aroundtherings/articles/2022/08/04/skiing-amongst-the-dunes-saudi-arabia-signals-interest-in-hosting-2029-asian-winter-games/ Not sure about the viability, but nice to see people haven’t forgotten about the AWG.
  7. I hadn’t heard of these trees before. Obviously, the legacy of that particular Olympics is fraught, but this seems like a cool landmark worth protecting.
  8. without a gold medal after two events They were 12/12 coming into today.
  9. Late to kit inspection/equipment check (whatever it’s called in powerlifting) apparently. Edit: I didn’t see your question as I was working on something.
  10. Newson capitalizes to make England the second CGA to win a gold medal in powerlifting.
  11. had both their lifters DSQ from women’s lightweight in powerlifting They’ve won every powerlifting event at the Commonwealth Games, so we will have a new CGA on top today.
  12. Just caught a replay of the women’s squash final as well. As someone without an allegiance in the match, I thought the refereeing was pretty solid. It was nice to see mixing up for the medals. Kennedy was just a level better in that match.
  13. Just finishing the mountain bike races was an achievement in itself today. Only 10 men and 5 women registered a final time. Apparently the 18% (of the winner’s time) rule was applied to these races, which I don’t believe was the case in the past… Places 11-15 on the men’s side are recorded as one lap down, but I don’t think they were ever lapped. It’s a shame if they weren’t allowed to register an official time if that’s the case. It would have been nice to see make it to the finish.
  14. Just watched a replay of the race. Miller coming through for bronze was awesome! Commentators said he lives in a part of Namibia so remote that he had to build his own course to get some proper race training completed. Course wasn’t my favorite, but the crowds were great. Both races were reasonably enjoyable to follow.
  15. First time since 1990 that none of the medalists in the men’s 100m are from the Caribbean.
  16. Omanyala becomes the fastest man in the Commonwealth. Abeykoon snatches the bronze!
  17. That men’s 4x100m medley will go down as one of the highlights of the Games. just out touch
  18. Wiffin will go home with silver came into Birmingham with no swimming medals at the Commonwealth Games, and is now set to leave with three (I believe).
  19. fails to qualify for the men’s 100m final do though. Should be one of the highlights of the Games.
  20. Crazy finish from Eseme . I did not see him making the final after the heats.
  21. Perrinne gets a bronze Two medals for in judo.
  22. I quite like squash. The women’s bronze medal match was very entertaining.
  23. Judging seemed a bit dodgy here as well. It is a great spectator sport with great universality though. The sport just lacks so much integrity after the doping and governance scandals.
