After Day 11 Rio: 203/306 events, 75 NOCs with medals After Day 11 Tokyo: 225/339 events, 84 NOCs with medals The US lacking 4 golds compared to Rio (28-28-28) while the Chinese are a massive 15 ahead (17-15-19 in Rio). The race for the crown will be interesting between them in the last 5 days. Japan (7-4-18 in Rio) are looking solid for 3rd with likely no chance for the Russians (12-12-14 in Rio) to catch up. New Zealand (3-6-1 in Rio) on their way making it a splendid games. Lisa Carrington, among others, made sure to improve on the London (finished 6-2-5) and Rio (finished 4-9-5). Should they win two more golds, it'd also equal the most amount of golds the Kiwis had won in one Olympics (8-1-2 in LA 1984). Hungary now trying to edge back to Rio (6-3-4 after Day 11) in canoeing and wrestling while against the odds of many, the Cubans could even follow up the last two Olympics with 5 golds each or more. As of yet, Brazilians have won more medals than in 2016 (3-4-4).   7. There is still much to come for the Dutch but from now on pretty much everything has to work to shift it around.
  8. True, it was surprising to see Cargnin win a bronze. As for skateboarding, street went better than the recent world champs and you still have men's park to come.
  9. The problem I have is the team sports. I wanted to watch baseball, water polo, volleyball etc. a bit more but with so much going on I just skip most of that altogether. So only semifinals and medal matches then.
  10. As long as they keep their traditions in boxing, wrestling and long jump/triple jump alive, they should be fine. Brazil on the other hand should be doing a bit better in my opinion (judo for example) but we could say that about a couple of other countries. Especially Mexico and India.
  11. Next mood update. The average is still improving. After Day 2: 5,03 After Day 4: 5,63 After Day 6: 6,40 After Day 8: 6,71 So how do you feel about the 2020 Tokyo Olympics right now?

After Day 10 Rio: 176/306 events, 71 NOCs with medals After Day 10 Tokyo: 199/339 events, 80 NOCs with medals At this point into the games you needed 6 golds to enter the Top 10 in Rio while 5 are still enough in Tokyo for the moment; 2 golds for Top 15 in Rio, compared to at least 3 in this edition. However, more nations have managed to win at least one gold so far (49 in Rio). Day 10 was huge for China. Despite the two lost finals in badminton, it has still been their most successful day so far with 5 golds, 11 medals altogether. There is a bit of a gap to the US now. Seeing as not everything is working for the Americans, there is a chance for the Chinese to top the medal table. None of the other teams are likely to interfere with the battle of those two. Italy the furthest behind (8-9-6 in Rio) compared to Rio while Japan (7-4-16 in Rio) and Australia (6-7-9) are doing very well at the moment. Denmark, Norway and Sweden combined are lacking some medals (17 in Rio) but have improved in golds (2 in Rio). More to come too. Most successful games for Ecuador, could finish higher than Colombia and Venezuela. Kenya have begun medalling but they might fall short of their performance last time (2-3-0 in Rio). Cuban fans will be relieved as wrestling and boxing will save them (2-1-4 in Rio).   17. When I saw the score for her first run I thought that was it and it looked like she thought so as well. Interesting finals but the seeding run yesterday was kinda pointless if it was just for the starting order.

Today has been huge for Australia. All four medals shining golden. A better finish than in Rio (8-11-10 in total) is already in the bag. Should their remaining gold medal hopes deliver, there might even be 5th place total in it. That also depends on how the British handle the second week. Last time, the ninth day was their "Super Sunday" with 5 golds (and 15-16-7 until that point) and they clung to second place in the table ever since. Track cycling will be important, which by the time in Rio was long underway. Also a great day for the US (26-21-22 in Rio) thanks to a strong final day in the pool. China (15-13-17 in Rio) is hanging on well with another 3 golds won today. The Dutch with a similar performance compared to Rio at that stage (4-2-3 in Rio). Another team hoping for a good medal haul in the velodrome, which is going to be key in hopes of a Top 10 placement at the end of the games. Italy are bouncing back a little from recent disappointment in other sports but in total medals, they are set on exceeding the Rio mark (7-8-6 in Rio). These are Qatar's most successful games with their first two gold medals won. Same can be said about Israel (1-0-1 2004 in Athens). Moreover, exceptional games for Venezuela, never had 4 medals before.
