  1. And with some margin in some cases. It's like before this year, nobody took it seriously, it's quite insane to see this many WR's fall...whoever built that pool is incredible
  2. Is this the first time (some) top swimmers are actually taking the short course world championships serious, or what? This is what I meant earlier in the year about the 'believability' of a sport
  3. Any idea what makes the Budapest pool so fast by the way? I know in speed skating and track cycling altitude plays a role, for example, but isn't water...you know...water? I get that it has something to do with the pool and some kind of technology, that's obvious, but not really sure what it is that can make a pool 'faster'.
  4. 25k is definitely more than enough for WR's in a sport where quite a few athletes realistically can compete in 4-5+ events in one championship
  5. Progress in filling up the bookcase in our new house All of the boxes we already brought there are now emptied and gone into the bookcase, I'm sure I still have some random stuff laying around here at home/old home, but I'm sure I'll get to that And yes, they are definitely going to be put in a nicer position and so on, instead of this mess (like putting them nice and standing up and such), but I needed to empty all the boxes and kind of sort them a bit, so I can work on making it nice late. Right is sports, left is non-sports (with a large majority of that being related to history)
  6. Poland has a great talent in the women's divisions. Hanna Mazur is being very impressive in the junior World Cup so far, riding 39's as a 16 year old in super slow Tomaszow is really impressive. https://live.isuresults.eu/events/2025_POL_0002/competition/17/results She's also got some endurance, judging by her second place in the mass start today.
  7. So bad being replaced by bad, very roughly speaking. Yeah, that doesn't sound great.
  8. Looks like the rebel offensive in Syria has within two weeks resulted in Assad being ousted from power and gone, that escalated quickly. Does kind of look like the new thing is one of those extremist sharia "disagree with our strict morals and it's the death penalty for you" kind of groups, so...hopefully that's not the reality, but I guess we'll see.
  9. Super nasty fall for Arnaud Boisset in today's first downhill of the season, he was 100% knocked out by hitting his head on the snow....
  10. A whole round of prelims in the women's 1000m in Beijing to eliminate a single skater, that's just...unfortunate
  11. To be fair, that's kind of what you get when you try to pull what he tried to pull
  12. That was one of my highlights of the luge weekend, for sure. It's great that athletes who are good, but also the only ones in their country on this level, can actually race in a team competition this way (especially goes for Ferlazzo and Maag). IBU had these trans-national teams in biathlon relays, but those times are long gone unfortunately.
  13. The full schedule in shorttrack always appears very late, like the day/evening before the first day. So tomorrow evening, you should see it here: https://www.shorttrack.swisstiming.com/?evt=11213100000127
  14. And, in his own words, possible final end of his career. That is quite tragic, he was so excited to compete for his mother's country for at least a season..
  15. Totally forgot, but Sunday was the 10k classic in Santa Caterina. Tougher race for Bruna both because of it being a back to back 10k (which she hadn't done before, especially not this early in the season when still building up racing rhythm), and because classic style is the one where the foot she crushed in 2022 is far and away the most painful. Managed to bite through it though and got an excellent 269 FIS points https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=47720 Yesterday she drove to Schlinig/Slingia on the / border, where next weekend there'll be the first FESA/OPA/Alpencup of the season, generally an excellent opportunity for good points.
  16. Didn't get there yet, so I'm still curious as to what a 'mixed singles' is exactly I mean, in tennis that'd be a man vs a woman, I suppose
  17. Great to see luge being back underway, but annoying that the graphics aren't really working properly yet They're showing the time gaps at all the splits, as per usual, but then at the finish there is only the actual time, and no time gaps, resulting in all the time having to mentally calculate the difference to see if someone gained or lost time in the last part.
  18. Yeah that mirror thing was so weird. You literally need a maximum of two safety car laps (possibly just 1) to take away that 1 piece of stuff....but wait until someone unavoidably shatters it into 1000 little pieces Intentionally or not, there is no way it was NOT going to happen at some point...
  19. And in speed skating?
  20. To be fair, Johaug's only real goal is the 50k, today was still too short for her I guess
  21. Not really working, cross-country has that in order a lot better than alpine skiing Nowadays if you're able to get 300 FIS points, you're certainly able to ski a decent race at least. The athletes you might see at world championships, where some of them might be in one of their first ever races on snow and they are still learning basic technique, definitely won't be able to get 300 points or better.
  22. They're based on four things: 1. A factor (800 for interval starts, 1200 for sprint qualifying, 1400 for mass starts/skiathlons) 2. The winner's time 3. The time of athlete X (the one you want to calculate the points for) 4. The current FIS points of the athletes in the top-5 of the race I know there are two formulas FIS uses, which obviously result in the same points total, but I don't have them in mind
  23. Not 300 points....233 points https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=47716 Excellent start of the season! Live timing wasn't ideal, some transponders issues here and there, so while she should have crossed the line first (started 2nd), I didn't see her in the finish list even after 8-9 women finished...luckily then she called and when I asked if she finished, she said she did, so no problems and it was indeed just some transponder issue Tomorrow it's the 10k classic, first time she does 10k races back-to-back, let's see how that goes Less pressure though, since that one won't count for the Brazilian Olympic ranking, only classic sprint and freestyle distance races count for that.
  24. Good start to the season for @brunamoura, 375 FIS points in a mildly strong sprint field in Italy yesterday. Started well in the quarters, but fell because of someone in front of her hitting something that bounced back on the course. That's alright though, qualifying is what matters in the sprint and that went well for a first snow race in almost 2 years https://www.fis-ski.com/DB/general/results.html?sectorcode=CC&raceid=47710 10k today, starting a little after 10am. Getting under 300 points or so would be a nice way to start the road.
  25. It's generally just called the skiathlon, so having a 'X km and X km' in the title is a bit confusing. The point is that the race is cut into two halves, one is done in the classic technique, the other in the freestyle (skating technique), so in this case it's a 20km race
