  1. Right, now the vacation and Olympics can really start
  2. Just started watching now, but a bit of a rough broadcasting start I see....they forgot to put the graphics in and after a bit it appeared, but without the time Sure that'll be fixed of course. Edit: oh, first try also wasn't registered in the graphics, and then the graphics disappeared again entirely
  3. For something like badminton though, I do still hope for the full-day stream instead of single matches which will lead to spoilers if you want to watch one later
  4. Het zilver van Nageeye en Leon Haan die vol ongeloof 'zilver op de marathon!' roept is toch wel een van mijn favoriete sportmomenten ooit
  5. No....leaving someone out of the Olympics simply because of a political choice for someone else, which of course happens often enough in the world of sports, is already bad enough by itself.
  6. While Kiessenhofer was really only in Tokyo for the time trial, for which she had prepared with scientific accuracy for a long time, all her coins were on that one. No idea really why, because out of the two road events, the time trial is obviously the least likely to spring a massive surprise (since everyone is going as fast as they can and there isn't really any team tactics or other shenanigans involved), but the time trial was her thing. I think she did not leave Tokyo disappointed by not winning a time trial medal
  7. I feel like that's more of an Americanized thing. Cycling is big in the Netherlands in terms of media attention, always has been, yet there has never really been any serious talk about a Golden Triple Crown or some Dutch-named equivalent for it Plus he is highly unlikely to do the Vuelta anyway (and he still has a bigger chance of not winning the rainbow jersey than winning it), so the Monumental Golden Grand Rainbow Tour Crown wouldn't have happened anyway
  8. There also aren't really any worthy races to compare them. A national championships race and a lower-level stage race in where one was better one day and the other in the other day. It honestly is 50/50 between Zigart and Pintar, so if Pintar is the one who brought more points towards getting a second quota, it's not entirely unfair to choose her if there isn't really a distinction to make otherwise. If that is the actual reason for Pogacar not going: oh well, Pogacar's loss mostly
  9. Since that's a term usually used by the far-right to describe anything they don't like, I doubt that will officially be a theme....?
  10. Tough choices though, the two that are selected are not 'clearly worse' than Zigart or anything, so any combination of two of those three would be a logical choice in it's own way..
  11. Leuk lijstje!
  12. Could I finally have found an actual use for my work phone, which tragically is an iPhone?
  13. Dat is een handig overzicht zo! Ik moet wel zeggen dat een medailleloos openingsweekeinde een domper zou zijn, met name Pieterse buiten het podium zou wel echt een teleurstelling zijn
  14. In seperate 'elections' throughout the years on TV that was voted as both 'Dutch sports moment of the century' and 'Best match ever' I was 5, so of course don't remember it, but my parents told me we were on vacation and they got up specifically to watch it because the hype was massive (normally they might watch some Olympic events here and there, but definitely won't wake up or stay home for it)
  16. Yeah, like probably 99% of people who will be watching the Olympics across the world I would likely have had no clue without Totallympics
  17. No, not in any way. Much as I would like any of those you mentioned to be a global superstar like James, but no I honestly wonder how many of the world's Olympic viewers in the next two weeks will be able to put Lopez or Salukvadze in the right sport, I think not 5% sadly
  18. Yeah, ok, that's the question of who will be the biggest superstar in the flagbearer's list answered
  19. Strangely on the HBO app it definitely works better than on the Eurosport app (where the -/+ 15 seconds button would disappear every time after clicking it, so if you want to skip a minute at a time, it goes slow). But on the computer, the Eurosport website's player worked perfectly, just needed to hold the forward key and you'd easily skip through minutes of introductions or otherwise 'empty' time. A truly massive advantage of HBO though: continueing where you left off! Eurosport had that until 2-3 years ago or something, and then they just...took it away. Which was so insanely annoying, especially when watching for example a multiple hours long stream or video. On HBO you can watch on your phone or tablet, later switch to your TV and simply continue right where you left off, watch for a bit, and continue on your phone or whatever, perfect
  20. That's awful as well, but at least if you have to leave on day 2, you still managed to enjoy the opening ceremony (which surely you can't if you're there knowing your Olympics are already done) Anyway, there's also NOC's that want everyone out as quickly as possible, so...meh.
  21. Huh, who knew. Sounds cool though, but yeah, I'm not sure what it would add when you can already go for any stream you want So far I'm not unhappy with HBO btw. The only way the player went back in quality compared to Eurosport's is the fast-forward option, which goes much slower on HBO than on Eurosport, but alright.
  22. Awful. Just imagine your Olympics are already over before the Olympics are even opened
  23. Yes, he switched from many years of regular basketball to 3x3 in 2022, specifically with Paris as the aim.
  24. Like others said, it's because of the athletics, but that seems like...unfortunate planning, to say the least. I definitely hope it's better next time, because it's fine to have group games and such before the opening ceremony, but every single athlete participating in the Olympics should at the very least still have a theoretical chance for gold at the moment the Games are declared open...
  25. Not sure if Nageeye is even in Europe already though, his race is still far away... I do think De Jong is very much a worthy choice
