  1. Gotta love those times when a 2.5km race counts for distance points
  2. I'd go for Bosnia all the way and then see what else might be needed.
  3. Poland kinda sounds like a waste of energy...doesn't it?
  4. 157 for Yonathan, which should mean Juan is still in pole position for Chile's Olympic ticket...hopefully it remains that way and they're not gonna change the rules last-minute or something. Meanwhile Lutz doesn't get under 200, too bad for him, but good news for Victor Santos
  5. Too bad skeleton has no vote yet, another winter sport I definitely try to watch live whenever possible and delayed if I couldn't watch it live
  6. Well yeah, but that seems a bit hard when you've only got X athletes in total who can qualify
  7. Does anyone know how the US trials, which start today, are going to work? As in, who's going to the Olympics?
  8. This is just sick. Turkey's religious 'ministry' has said/confirmed it's perfectly legal to marry (and impregnate) girls from the age of 9 years... https://ahvalnews.com/marriage/girls-can-marry-aged-9-turkeys-religious-authority
  9. Oh I thought the list at xx January counted Well then she was right after all, when she said she was qualified. Good thing I wished her good luck then
  10. Tomorrow's another sprint, who knows what he can do there (although it's classic instead of free)
  11. Amazing 130 FIS points for Juan Agurto (Chile) yesterday in Turkey! If I heard so correctly, Chile will choose their athlete based on who has the single best result, not on who has the best average. Yonathan Fernandez has a much better average, but his best so far is a 132 (and he didn't finish yesterday), so this might be fantastic for Juan. Still nothing is sure, so I'm not celebrating too early yet, let's see how he does tomorrow. Claudia Salcedo had 156 points (if I'm not mistaken), which means she only needs a half-decent result in Turkey's last race tomorrow to get her average back under 300 and qualify for Pyeongchang, vamos Claudia
  12. What's so bad about Cologna?
  13. Sarah Hendrickson and Michael Glasder won the American trials. https://www.vaildaily.com/pyeongchang-2018-winter-olympics/hendrickson-glasder-earn-olympic-spots-in-ski-jumping/
  14. So the KHL seems to be in after all?
  15. Oh yeah that's right, European championships (single distance), the most useless addition to the calendar, especially without the 5 and 10k Oh well, let's see, at least there are quite some decent athletes turning up
  16. PDC and BDO are the main ones, WDF (where mostly BDO players play) is not so interesting and doesn't really count
  17. Alexandra Palace's warm-up tournament is over, now it's time for the big guns in darts: it's Lakeside time A grand total of 40 men (even one from Brunei) and 16 women will fight for the world titles of the BDO, unanimously known as the world's most professional darts organization with obviously all the best players in the world in it. Check out Wikipedia for the brackets, right here. Ok, maybe the BDO has a few problems. For example reigning champion Glen Durrant saying he's going to switch to the lower-level PDC if he doesn't defend his title at Lakeside. Or wrong flags...wrong flags everywhere! Or the worst official website in the history of official websites. Actually, there's quite a lot of problems, here's a list from the Darts Forum: Sadly Martin Fitzmaurice is no more, but here we go: Aaaaaaaaare youuuuuu ready??? LET'S PLAY DARTS !
  18. I see brutal domination on the cards here
  19. Travis Ganong's fall in Bormio turns out to have torn his ACL, he's out for the season (and so the Olympics) https://www.instagram.com/p/BdayXW-hriR/?taken-by=travisganong
  20. Biathlon is my number one by (very, very) far. I'd say alpine skiing could be my second favourite and apart from that, it all just really depends on the competitions. I've seen epic cross-country races and highly boring cross-country races, but the same goes for almost every other sport.
  21. I most certainly hope so, +1 for anything that resembles a betting contest
  22. Good luck @VolleyRuller96
  23. But why would they have to be merged? Imagine someone opens a thread about a news event he/she finds important in that sport (just an example, the Chapecoense plane crash). After a while, that thread doesn't get updated anymore because there's not much news anymore, but there's not a single reason to think "ok, this is not new anymore, time to merge it with a general thread". A thread will go down by itself once interest levels are getting down, and that's fine. It's how a forum works.
  24. Very wise words from @De_Gambassi right here. All forums I've ever posted on work because users 'make' the forum. Who cares if for example the football section is a bit different from the biathlon section? Or if the alpine skiing section is different than the cycling section? The whole Totallympics concept (international forum with clearly visible and easy to find space for literally every Olympic sport) is something unique on the internet, the concept is brilliant and even though the userbase might not be huge, that part of the concept works. What doesn't work is all the tight and strict ruling and people jumping into panic when someone opens a thread that doesn't follow the traditional guidelines.
  25. Stoch on fire Nothing against him, but I hope he gets beaten in at least one of the two remaining competitions....for some reason I always hope Sven Hannawald's legendary 4-win tour remains unique
