Winter Olympic Games 2026 Bid Process
De_Gambassi replied to Gianlu33's topic in Winter Olympic Games Milano-Cortina 2026
At that point, ANY european bid should win versus ANY other bid. To Canada to host the Winter Games 16 years afer Vancouver is ridiuclous. I really hope It won't happen (and if it means Sapporo, so be it) -

Winter Olympic Games 2018 Ceremonies
De_Gambassi replied to Sindo's topic in Winter Olympic Games Pyeongchang 2018
Maybe it's the time of the day here, maybe it's the production, maybe it's just me. But I really don't feel captivated at all. To the point I can't wait for the mixed curling to be back. -

One of the parade highlights ( for me) is to hear how the stadium react to each nation's entry. This time, we heard nothing, not even for the home nation. -

Apparently, they are a shit load of people who believe the stadium is empty. -
Which Sports Events are you Currently Watching?
De_Gambassi replied to dcro's topic in Totallympics Mixed Zone
My plan was to get some sleep and wake up at 2 am for the Moguls. Apparently, I don't know anymore how to get to sleep at 8 pm. So I guess, I will include some one hour and half of mixed curling to my schedule. Yeah. -

https://lequipe.fr/Volley-ball/Actualites/La-france-accueillera-le-final-six/873598 France will host the Final Six of the first edition of the new World League. They will host it... at Lille Stadium (27,000 seats, host of Davis Cup final, Eurobasket 2015, etc.) It's a incredible massive step in the dark by the federation (the National Team has filled only 6K, 7K arenas so far). This might bring french volleyball into an all new galaxy.

This is not about individual cases... that's not the point. Sure, Vonn has a probably higher chance than the 25% of winning the gold given here, but other americans probably have too high of a percentage of chance of victory for the exact same reason. The belief beeing that - at the end - things will balance each other (I reckon, it would work better with the Summer OG and higher numbers). The world cup rankings are not necesseraly accurate, but they are the most accurates datas to work with. (I was tempting to make a mix of 2017 & 2018 world, cup rankings and 2017 world championships but it was getting too complex fot what it is). Ideally, you would have a irrefutable, non arguable, list of the top x favorites in each event. But no one has that.

After using the 2017 world cup results here to make my own predictive Pyeongchang 2018 medals table, I've done the same with the 2018 world cup reults. A bit more sophistacated this time using either a top 6/8/10 table depending of the sport/events (full detals here) Golds: 1. 15.5 medals 2. 11.8 medals 3. 9.2 medals 4. 6.3 medals 5. 6.05 medals 6. 5.75 medals 7. 5.65 medals 8. 5.25 medals 9. 4.95 medals 10. 4.6 medals 11. 3.7 medals 12. 3.25 medals 13. 2.95 medals Medals: 1. 41.3medals 2. 33.75 medals 3. 26.65 medals 4. 20.8 medals 5. 18.05 medals 6. 16.7 medals 7. 16.55 medals 8. 16.15 medals 9. 15.4 medals 10. 15.2 medals 12. 11 medals 12. 9.65 medals 13. 8.7 medals According to this: - Norway should easely secure the top place - Germany and Canada should complete the podium - Huge fight for the remaining 2 top 5 places with 7 nations competiting for them (8 even, depending of the success of the dutch speed skaters)

Impressive, one versus three and still winning.

EDIT: the ARD's piece http://www.sportschau.de/doping/skilanglauf-manipulationsverdacht-englisch-100.html 46% of medals...
