Oh, I remember us watching the finals at the office (me and two my friends were involved in some canoe/kayak activities but not at the top-level)! It was a point of some crisis for us too - we qualified only 2 persons for London 2012. But their medals helped to rise this sport again. It is true, a lot of our cannoe/kayak athletes competed for Azerbaijan. Sometimes, it was about money, sometimes it was to hard to get the place in our national team at the Olympics.

Yes, Kherson and Mykolaiv regions (nearby) have a lot of water segments appropriate for kayaking. And Canoe slalom / rafting - at the North of Mykolaiv region.

По наших естафетах - виступили дуже пристойно в перший день у міксті, у жіночій - десь вже з 3 етапу можна було берети сили. Але жеребкування на 2 день не дає жодної впевненості. В міксті немає особливо варіантів посилитися. Британія буде першою, а далі ми, Іспанія і Ботсвана, яка може дуже підсилити чоловічу частину. Якщо вони це зроблять, буде дуже складно. У жіночій - маємо ще свіжу Бризгіну, та й Ткачук, наче, вчора не бігла на всі 100, коли все було зрозуміло. Теоретично, може і Рижикова пробігти вдруге за вечір. Та й команд-суперниць всього 5, але обійти двох з трійки Бельгію та Австралію буде дуже непросто. Можемо і 2 естфети кваліфікувати, а можемо і з нулем залишитися. За часом відібратися не варіант.

Yes, ITF uses argument, that they qualify individually. But ICF cannot use this argument.

I am afraid the IOC will really do this. But it is not a question of "team" it is a question of AINs - Individual Neutral Athletes. The IOC declared that AINs will participate in Paris. They do not represent their country or NOC, they are individuals, so there is no any legal ground for them to compete in pairs or doubles.

The seeding has the same procedure for both days. So the place at the first days does not effects the seeding for the second day. Important note: DQ and DNF at the first day allows to start at the day 2. DNS at the 1st day does not allow to start at the day 2

We have similar situation trying to qualify both 4x400 W and X. Bur the approach is different. Our best runners are divided between the squads and are not expected to start both disciplines. Will see what work better )) May be both ways will give the same result

The only real question - if this athletes do not represent their state, NOC and national federation but themselves onlt: what ground can be legally used to compose those pairs or doubles?
