  1. Latst news on this - Ilgar Mamedov said that he is not a head of "homeless team", so no russian fencers at Olympic qualifier would not be allowed by him. Thus according to him AINs from russia will miss last chance for Olympic qualification. Another news announced squad for Olympic qualifier: - Reizlin (men`s epee) - Poloziuk (women`s foil) - Yagodka (men`s sabre) - Yunes (men`s foil) Method of selection - highest ranked athlete right now. I would say Poloziuk has the best chances. Reizlin is 39 yo. I would like to see someone from the next generation.
  2. We have to be careful with our wishes. Katsiadakis and his EcCom considered Olympic qualification reform. They established a special team to deal with this question... led by Katsiadakis himself. And came to... nothing. But one of the proposals was to reduce teams to 2 fencers - not to enlarge team tournament but to award more individual quotas. In my oppinion - 2-member teams would be a total disaster - completely another discipline. Bit it is just my oppinion.
  3. Livestream link is missing at the FIE web site, but it is available here https://www.youtube.com/@ScienceFencing/streams
  4. So, we have a draw: https://www.fencingtimelive.com/tableaus/scores/1595A476EC794F83AF6B8C98A8CE7CAD/5841DF90EFCE4B16BF30652C0A4E3C63 Both Ukraine and Estonia start and at the 1/8 - - not an easy lot for us - and potentially in 1/4
  5. Ukrainian athlete Svitlana Malkova did not start today at the Trampoline World Cup in Cottbus because yesterday russian rocket killed her mother in the city of Mykolaiv. Fair Olympic qualification, surely...
  6. That is going tough both for Italy and Ukraine So we won - congratulations to - quota is safe!
  7. I think so too. Kharlan lost early today. So she will be fresh enough for tomorrow battles.
  8. There are several scenarious. Two important matches are: - - With both and in top 16 the chances will almost desappear (only 1st place will help under certain circumstances).
  9. So if beats us they will be able to get the 4th place in Rankings reaching the final match and not losing it to Italy. I think it is the only possible scenario when will be in danger for Olympic quota.
  10. The draw released https://www.fencingtimelive.com/tableaus/scores/56396B334B284AA99F6969655AD6CFA5/04986E87D0F54A9A957F8173CACF1947
  11. I would say, the lawyers must be ready for the great battle. The ITF rules clearly say: they can make all that russians eligible as an exception. But that will only allow the NOC to nominate that player. And the russian NOC is suspended by the IOC (the appeal was lost). So ROC cannot perform NOC`s functions and cannot nominate players. Thus every tennis player who loses his/her place at the Olympics because of ITF exceptions for russians will be able to appeal to CAS to get his/her place back. And nobody can predict the outcome )
  12. So some news on Minina and Khramstsov. I do not think Czech Republic will stay quiet. I hope your national federation and NOC are aware of these facts.
  13. - - W66. That is total circus - how can 2 of 5 judges give second round to ??
  14. In theory: who will get quota if Larin is scratched from the Olympics (this possibility is quite real)?
  15. I would not say that "global south" is not strong enough in fencing. There strong teams / fencers in South America, Africa, Central Asia. It is more about cases when national federations exist nominally (with no answers to the requests sent at their offical contact - checked it myself). They even should not visit congresses themselves - FIE allowes them to transfer their votes to other National Federation. So, some federations have several votes at the meetings ) Of course, in some cases - the reason is to reduce expenditures, but it is not an excuse for the federations which do not really operate at all.
  16. No. no, I do not mean votes should not be equal, of course. I just explined how russians use the fundamental principles of democracy to undermine it from the inside.
  17. I am afraid we will have Gulag everywhere with this way. Russians use core principles of democracy against us. Democracy needs voting. But it is important: who votes. If we look through the reports from the meetings of FIE (interhational fencing federation - one of the most pro-russian IF) we can see that russian position is supported during discussion by a lot of countries which do not have fencing traditions and rarelt send a lot of fencers to the international tournaments. Some of this national federations do not exist really - their contact e-mail boxes answer with something like "this address do not exist". But their votes are the same as the votes from others. That is a general russian approach (in sports, politics e t.c.): they strengthen marginal groups (fat-rights, far-lefts, neo-nazi, nominal national sport federations e t.c.) to make their influence unproportionally high (with the help of money, media resources e t.c.). It undermines the result of the voting is which expected to represent balance of the oppinions. By the way, they used it in IPC to allow russians to take part in the Paralympics. Let me show once again this famous photo from pro-war meeting with russian athletes. We can see that some of them have Z-s on their uniform and some of them do not have. So they at least had a choice - to were Z or not.
  18. There is no clarification on this. But all this looks like a bargain between the IOC and russians. The only relatively fast is their official Telegram Channel https://europetaekwondo.org/ (top right corner)
  19. So let me add Larin to the list. He was "qualified" for the Olympics earlier. At this video he was promoting crowdfunding campaign for russian army as an Olympic Champion. World Taekwondo suspended him for several months. They think it is enough to punish Larin for helping to kill Ukrainians. So with beeing under real pressure IOC is stil capable of scratching all of them from the Olympics. So 3rd places at qualifing tournament still can worth something.
  20. russian media (inckuding RIA) posted this inside 2 days ago with the reference to ITF press-officers.
  21. Thomas Bach visited personally ITF meeting where they decided to allow russian and belorussian tennis players to take part in doubles and mixed. The reason - they quallify not as a team but according to their persoanal rankings. That is the difference with other cases. Very controversial decision. So right now it is up to russian government whether to send athletes ot not. 2 most possible outcomes: 1. They send athletes only in a small number of events (wrestling, taekwondo, judo, tennis) where they have real chances to get medals. 2. Athletes "themselves" refuse to take part in the games under the proposed conditions (of course they will be just instructed what to say, like before 1984 Olympics).
