  1. today's action (luckily we have a lot more variety than yesterday )... Women's -57kg, Semifinals Jade Jones vs Skylar Park Zhou Lijun vs Raheleh Asemani Men's -80kg, Semifinals Damon Sansum vs Seif Eissa Nikita Rafalovich vs Raul Martinez Garcia fun facts...earlier today, in the women's round of 16 we did have the Tarvese sisters' derby (Jolanta vs Inese, who won it), meanwhile in the men's round of 16 we did have the Rafalovich brothers' derby (Nikita won over Maksim)...

  3. but in the last action it wasn't just a knee down and out...at a certain point, Takatani was out with both feet touching the ground...that's the moment where I think it's right to give Akbari 1 point...
  4. I think Akbari didn't complete the takedown (so, no 4-2 score...and in fact the Japanese won the challenge), but still forced Takatani out with both feet, so I guess the 1-pt score (and the 3-2 final result) is correct...
  5. very close bout between Takatani and Akbari...once every while Iranians can win in the last second...
  6. by the way, insn't any Iranian TV covering this event? EDIT: now I've seen your answer in the previous post...thanks!
  7. at the moment they are on mat C... https://www.mediaklikk.hu/m4-elo
  8. today's quarterfinals... -57kg vs vs vs vs -65kg vs vs vs vs -79kg vs vs vs vs -92kg vs vs vs vs
  9. now they are all working...meh! p.s. Sokalski lost by superiority (1-12 the score)...sorry...
  10. by the way, also today UWW website sucks as usual...I have mat C not working this time...
  11. yeah, but the track in Inzell has become very fast...all those PBs smashed by the Italian skaters are there to show there's a technological improvement in that track...I just can't imagine all of them becoming that fast in a year's time because of their training...
  12. yeah...but I'm pretty sure that there will be also some very good players, since Japanese and Korean Pro leagues will stop for sure... the main problem is with American (and European) teams since MLB will never allow their players to play in Tokyo (the funny situation is that the qualification tournament -in early 2020) probably will be played with some MLB stars, meanwhile there's no chance to watch them in Tokyo (I can imagine Italy qualifying at the expense of the Netherlands because they make a team with people like Rizzo, Benintendi, Iannetta, Cervelli, Gallo, Nimmo, Conforto and so on and then going to the Olympics with the same team we normally see at the European Champs )...
  13. Squash, if in, will only have 40 (if they are lucky), 20 men and 20 women (notoriously IOC doesn't care if then we have odd draws by not keeping 2˟ number of athletes)... meanwhile I'm very optimist about Karate and Sport Climbing expanding their field...Karate having Kata + all 5 Kumite weight classes (with 12/16 fighters each instead of only 10) and Sport Climbing having its 3 "special" disciplines (with 20 competitiors per event) instead of this farce of the combined event... and I see Baseball/Softball go once again...
  14. Prodan is from , not France...
  15. unfortunately not even the local hero Bianca Walkden could avoid today's Asian sweep...3 weight classes and 3 Gold medals for the Asian fighters...
  16. Women's +67kg, Gold Medal Match Zheng Shuyin b. Bianca Walkden 6-4
  17. Men's -58kg, Gold Medal Match Armin Hadipour b. Kim Tae-Hun 16-12
  18. Women's -49kg, Gold Medal Match Panipak Wongpattanakit b. Sim Jae-Young 11-0
  19. 2019 Senior Global Championships * = Events included in the Olympic Qualification Period
  20. 2019 Junior Global Championships
  21. 2018/2019 World Cup Schedule * = Events included in the Olympic Qualification Period
  22. The new season is coming, so it's time to open a new thread and recap all the most important upcoming events... The first big championship to start is of course the World Cup, which from next April will also count for the Olympic Qualification... Meanwhile later in 2019 we're going to follow the Global Championships, first the Junior Continental and World Champs in Spring and then the Senior Continental and World Champs (also counting for the Olympic Qualification, actually awarding the most points for that) in Summer, according to the usual FIE traditional calendar...
  23. Fencing FIE World Cup 2018 - 2019 Multi-Stage Event - 9 November 2018 - 19 May 2019 Official Website
  24. still 1 semifinal match to go, but we already know that if it was not for Walkden, today's a true Asian party in Manchester with 5 out of 6 finalists coming from that Continent... for Italy, our young talent Dell'Aquila surprisingly won his 2nd round bout against the no.2 seed Mikhail Artamonov (and with good margin, about 10 points if I remember correctly), but then he had to surrender to the Iranian Hadipour (and once again with some margin, well over 10 points)... hopefully with all the points collected in the last couple of tournaments, he's going to improve his seed by next GP event and have a slightly less prohibitive draw...
