  1. Well done, Swedish girls and Norwegian men, especially Klaebo, and not surprising France took a medal, they were always good here in Planica. Only 22nd Miha Šimenc and 27th Eva Urevc, so bad start for already not even remotely strong home team. Maybe they could do better in Team Sprint, where Anja Mandeljc will join Urevc and Vili Črv will join Šimenc. Finals has to be goal for both teams.
  2. https://www.fis-ski.com/en/nordic-combined/nordic-combined-news-multimedia/news-multimedia/news/2022-23/planica-slo-104-m-for-rehrl-and-riiber-in-official-training Very nice jumping from best combiners, our team way behind.
  3. It looks like Lovro Kos got internal qualifications ahead of Prevc brothers for tomorrow's qualifications. So probably no Prevc tomorrow, other 3 were already qualified. https://medias2.fis-ski.com/pdf/2023/JP/3030/2023JP3030RLT.pdf Here are ranks: Anže Lanišek 1/2/- Timi Zajc 6/1/3 Žiga Jelar 16/8/33 Lovro Kos 5/10/6 Peter Prevc 8/13/14 Domen Prevc 23/48/39
  4. It will snow in next days, so no worries here. Fun fact, they are using start/finish area for soccer pitch during summer.
  5. Expected result from our team. Only Urevc and Šimenc got through qualifications, hopefully they could get also at least in semifinals. (easier Eva than Miha)
  6. Ema Klinec will try to defend her title today, hope that Nika Križnar is feeling even better than yesterday, also Maja Vtič is jumping really well, Nika Prevc and Katra Komar have still some reserves. So hoping for all 5 to come in Final Round, maybe even in top 20, and to stay at least with one girl with a medal chance till the end.
  7. Bruna's inspiring story was presented as well through our national broadcaster, I just heard it on our special podcast, dedicated to this WCH. Anyway, time to wish all athletes the best, 100 ladies and 139 men will take part in today's Sprint, which is a bit less than two years ago in Oberstdorf, but still quite nice participation.
  8. Well done, also nobody say we are not good host, since Lucija Medja gave a win to Brazilian squad.
  9. Thank god this is over, it will not be remembered as best Worlds in history for Alpine snowboard events.
  10. @heywoodu, I knew that you are together, but how did you foretell in advance, she will get BIB 1, anyway, @brunamoura, good luck today.
  11. This is not our official team, these are athletes, who achieved standards according to EAA.
  12. @heywoodu, how did you know, Bruna will get no.1. Do you have connections or something? 😄 Hope you enjoy in Opening Ceremony. 😊
  13. This looks to be our team. SLOVENIA () - qualifying rank Jan Vukovič - 800 m (17) Filip Jakob Demšar - 60 m Hurdles (30) Robert Renner - Pole Vault (17) Jan Luxa - Triple Jump (18) Anita Horvat - 800 m (2) Jerneja Smonkar - 800 m (18) Veronika Sadek - 800 m (20) Maruša Mišmaš Zrimšek - 1500 m (27), 3000 m (9) Joni Tomičič Prezelj - 100 m Hurdles (31) Lia Apostolovski - High Jump (12) Tina Šutej - Pole Vault (1) Neja Filipič - Triple Jump (2) Eva Pepelnak - Triple Jump (17) If there will be no cancellation, we will have 13 athletes (4 men, 9 women). This would equal Birmingham 2007, in last years participation was a bit poor, with exception of last Championships (13 athletes). Šutej is hard favourite to take a medal, then there are Filipič, Horvat and Mišmaš Zrimšek, so quite a descent ladies team. EDIT: No Demšar, 12 athletes (3m, 9w)
  14. Any news on what is happening in Georgia? According to FIS live app, 2nd qualification run is still on hold for quite a while, will there even be a race today?
  15. Which starts exactly at 20.23, they are trying to copy Beijing 2008 Olympics with this kind of symbolic. 😄
  16. As you said, top 6 is realistic goal for Ema, Gašper Brecl could end up in top 20 with better jump, because of "4 athletes per nation" limit. I have some hopes for Mixed event, because they were quite good in World Cup, so even here top 6 is possible.
  17. SLOVENIA Anže Lanišek Timi Zajc Peter Prevc Domen Prevc Lovro Kos Žiga Jelar Ema Klinec Nika Križnar Nika Prevc Katra Komar Maja Vtič Medal history: 3 golds, 2 silver, 5 bronze / Total: 10 medals Val di Fiemme 1991: 1. Franci Petek - Men's LH Individual Oberstdorf 2005: 1. Rok Benkovič - Men's NH Individual 3. Peterka, Bogataj, Benkovič, Damjan - Men's NH Team Oslo 2011: 3. P. Prevc, Tepeš, Damjan, Kranjec - Men's LH Team Val di Fiemme 2013: 2. Peter Prevc - Men's LH Individual 3. Peter Prevc - Men's NH Individual Oberstdorf 2021: 1. Ema Klinec - Women's NH Individual 2. Križnar, Rogelj, Bogataj, Klinec - Women's NH Team 3. Anže Lanišek - Men's NH Individual 3. Nika Križnar - Women's LH Individual There is no doubt, which sport is the one, who could bring some joy for host nation. Ski jumping were always been kind of national sport. After major Beijing Olympics success this season had a lot of ups and downs. Among men we had a lot of podium candidates, but only Lanišek was quite constant. Among women sadly two times Olympic champion Urša Bogataj ended season due to injury, Nika Križnar had also some crisis. I still believe because Planica always brings out the best from our athletes, at least 3-5 medals should be realistic goal to achieve. But because we all know WCH are special competition, organized only once every two years, a single medal could save all the organizers efforts.
  18. SLOVENIA MIha Šimenc Vili Črv Anže Gros Izidor Karničar Boštjan Korošec Miha Ličef Jošt Mulej Eva Urevc Anja Mandeljc Neža Žerjav Anita Klemenčič Klara Mali Nika Ljubič Lucija Medja Medal history: 2 silver, 3 bronze / Total: 5 medals Sapporo 2007: 2. Petra Majdič - Sprint C Oslo 2011: 3. Petra Majdič - Sprint F Seefeld 2019: 2. Katja Višnar / Anamarija Lampič - Team Sprint Oberstdorf 2021: 3. Anamarija Lampič - Sprint C 3. Eva Urevc / Anamarija Lampič - Team Sprint After Lampič decided to compete in biathlon, CC skiing team has much less potential for great success in front of home crowd. But let us not forget Eva Urevc this year achieved real progress in distance with some top 10 results, also Anja Mandeljc. Urevc is still really capable to attack final in Sprint, where everything is possible. Sprints are most powerful factor also in men's site, but to be honest every top 10 result from any CC skier from Slovenia would be huge deal. Too bad Planica could not host WCH few years back, when the likes of Majdič, Fabjan, Višnar and Lampič could bring home much better results.
  19. SLOVENIA Gašper Brecl Erazem Stanonik Matic Garbajs Matic Hladnik Matija Zelnik Ema Volavšek Silva Verbič Teja Pavec Nordic Combined has a bit declined in past years. Roman Perko will most likely remain athlete with best Slovenian performance in history of WCH for quite a while. He came in 5th in Trondheim 1997. But we do have Ema Volavšek, who ended last season premiere World Cup overall in 3rd place.
  20. Great, I will try to visit Planica next Sunday, when there is most busy schedule with mixed team SJ, mixed NC and ofcourse CC Team Sprint.
